what can i push each up to with just stock cooling in an antec solo case? i don't feel like purchasing another heatsink or fan since i've already got one at home, and these each would come with the retail one

I'd say you could safely link the fsb/ram and clock the 6750 up to 3.2 and 6850 up to 3.6, but anything higher and you may be pushing it. I don't really know though, I haven't messed with stock cooling since my P4 631. They can both go a lot higher, but this is only from third party HSF experience.

I actually got my e6600(stock 2.4) up to 3.2 pretty easily. I can't get it much past that but i think it's because i need ram with better timing. You should be able to get the 6750/6850 up pretty high. The core 2 duos are known for being good overclockers. You can always get one of these:


Keeps my 3.2 e6600 below 30c.

3.52ghz on the E6750 with intel stock is rather impressive, i think

3.8ghz on the E6850 with the zalman isn't bad, either

my e6750 runs stable at 3.8 on a thermaltake big typhoon, but there are much better heatsinks out there now if you plan on going that option.

I'm gonna have to try to get past 3.2. I don't know what the hump is. Maybe i need to get faster ram. It's only 800.

you don't need faster ram at all, it just all depends what ratio you run at, and may very well be a mobo fsb wall, or voltage. There's tons of stuff, but you don't really need fast ram to OC these things.
