1988 Rx-7 Turbo

I'll be looking to dyno my car soon after recently solving some ignition problems (well, I think I solved them). Anyway, I'm trying to decide between Phantasm and RPM. Now this would seem like a no-brainer choice of RPM, but basically going to Phantasm will probably save me $50 (and money is tight these days for everybody). I gave one of the guys there a copy of some Rx-7 tuning software and he offered to let me do a few pulls for $40, which I guess is a discount rate. Plus it is half as far away from where I keep the car in North Raleigh, and I will be driving it on straight 100 octane race gas (the $5.69/gal stuff from Cary) and I get 15mpg in average city driving, maybe 18 if I never boost it.

RPM wants $65. Neither shops know a ton about rotary engines, but Phantasm's dyno setup is pretty ghetto. You have to put your car up on a lift and all this shit which is gay. They both use the same model Dynojet (I called and asked, it is the 224x). Either way I will be doing the tuning and using my onboard wideband.

So if you were me, where would you go? Better dyno 'environment' (but same dyno) vs. saving some bones?

If you must use one of the two I would go with RPM. I was told Mayhem is good as well?

Mayhem's even farther from the triangle town center area (which is where the car is) isn't it? Plus I know a guy who works at RPM. I've dealt with them before, they did some wastegate porting for me a year ago and I was happy with the result.

if you're going to get 100 from the cary bp, then mayhem isn't far. they're off of germantown rd.

rpm has always served me pretty well, and that's who tuned my car.

there's also a new place on capital called piedmont motorsports, i saw that they're having a dyno day sometime soon. that would be the closest and they'll probably be offering a cheap rate. i assume it'll just be a rented mobile dyno, i don't think they have one in the shop.

i don't guess it really matters where you go if you're just doing pulls. $40 for a few is going to be pretty hard to beat.
