well McCain is in a difficult position. his VP choice has to be a power play. I see Obama choosing Biden or Edwards, either of which is a great choice.
if McCain thought outside the box on his VP choice he could lock it up. 6/16/2008 12:10:24 PM |

but the thing is I don't think Obama will be able to pull troops out. its a disaster over there. a cluster fuck if you will. but i fill McCain would fuck the country 15 x's worse than anybody ever good. and he'll die soon. 6/16/2008 3:24:40 PM |

Jindal is too early in his career to jump to the Vice Presidency, in my humble opinion. Given his potential, I'd like to see him run through a full term as governor before taking the leap into the VP slot, especially for a year where the Republicans are running a serious disadvantage. 6/16/2008 4:26:33 PM |

Quote : | "J.C. Watts, a former Oklahoma congressman who once was part of the GOP House leadership, said he's thinking of voting for Obama. Watts said he's still a Republican, but he criticizes his party for neglecting the black community. Black Republicans, he said, have to concede that while they might not agree with Democrats on issues, at least that party reaches out to them.
"And Obama highlights that even more," Watts said, adding that he expects Obama to take on issues such as poverty and urban policy. "Republicans often seem indifferent to those things."" |

nope. she'd be a wonderful pick, but it would still go to the dems. i think most people who think the republicans still can win are thinking of this election like back in 2004 when people were scared to change presidents in the midst of a war. now that people realize the war will last longer than any one president's time in office, they don't care. repubs are done across the board this november, just get used to it and start looking to the next set of mid term elections6/16/2008 6:54:57 PM |

Cherokee, I can see McCain winning in november. I think if the republicans ran a better candidate it would almost be a lock. McCain puts it in play and it could really go either way. Running such a liberal wasnt the best choice, you would think they learned something from 04, but obama is trying hard to talk like a moderate... it might work. 6/16/2008 8:08:01 PM |

The only thing I didnt like about romney was that he passed a universal healthcare in his state. I want to make sure that he wouldnt have tried it at the federal level. If people want it, let the states do it. We need to stop these federal mandates.
DNL, I liked Rudy, Thompson..before he got into the race, then Romney. I like Huck, but he wasnt electible.. like ron paul. But if I thought Huck could pass the fairtax or Pual had a chance I would vote for them both over McCain. 6/17/2008 9:06:32 AM |

Or, if you're the more cynical, cold-blooded political type, they picked the one person they wanted to lose in a year that most analysts (including Republicans) thought they would lose going into it, and then all the losing candidates such as Romney and Huckabee can come back and try again in 2012. If McCain loses in November, his standing as a national political player is irreparably harmed, which would make many Republicans happy.
If you're Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee (or their key supporters in Republican power circles), you may vote for McCain, but you got to think that for their own presidential aspirations, they're wanting Obama to win.
This sometimes backfires. Bill Clinton was nominated by the Democrats and expected to lose in 1992. A lot of Democrats that passed on running in 1992 and wanted to run in 1996 against a Republican that wasn't an incumbent never got the opportunity.

BC was expected to lose? The first bush was unpopular, the economy was in the shitter, and we had just gone through a long cycle of republican candidates. That's pretty much the recipe for a switch to another party, and those are the conditions that exist now. 6/17/2008 8:45:35 PM |
