I usually get 2-week salary bonus in December, a raise every January, and another 2-week salary + performance bonus in June.

I get the standard Christmas/ holiday bonuses which are usually about $1,000, but my boss can be awesome sometimes and just throw you some cash just for the hell of it. Like the other day there was an extra $500 in my paycheck because "it was busy and you did a great job". Or when my mom was really ill and I contemplated flying up north to see her she slipped me a $600 check to pay for airfare. I prefer those random acts of kindness over bonuses anyday.

I don't get many bonuses as a federal employee, but the guaranteed promotions are awesome, especially when you consider that I started a year ago and am already making $10k annually then I did then. And in 6 months, I'll be making an additional $10k more. Accelerated promotion plan ftw!

last year our company got bought towards the middle of the year and i believe that greatly affected the end of year bonus which wasn't all that great

I used to work in the college bookstore industry. I had one of the best stores in the company, which had over 200 stores at the time I left. 2 months after I got that bonus I left to go into software development and promptly got screwed out of 10k in backpay when the company went bankrupt in march.

Ooohhh yeah, I forgot about the bonus due to buyout - when we went private I got roughly $14k. 1/3 of it was cash money and the other 2/3 was reinvested for when the company issues another IPO. When it does that I'll be making $$$$$

perhaps. i think the more information that employees can arm themselves with, the better off they will be. if i knew somebody like myself was making more money or getting some huge bonus that i wasn't getting, i'd be more likely to stand up for what i feel i deserve according to market value
