I have a Sony DCR-HC21 Mini DV Camcorder. I now have about 4 Mini DVs tapes that I want to convert to DVD. I tried using Intervideo WinDVD Creator directly copying from the camcorder to the DVD via the Camcorders USB cable. After I was done I popped in the DVD and the video quality was not good (4/10). It looks worse than VHS tape.
What's causing this poor video quality? - Would going through firewire have produced near DVD quality video? (my laptop does not have firewire port) - should I use a better DVD creator software? - is Mini DV to DVD conversion quality usually this bad? 6/19/2008 1:00:23 PM |

USB is most likely causing the issue
The quality will be better from firewire 6/19/2008 1:14:56 PM |

use firewire unless you have one of the rare miniDV cameras that outputs full usb2
you should get an almost exact quality transfer to dvd - there should be little to no detectable quality loss - i've never used windvd but does it have some settings you chose that could determine quality? 6/19/2008 1:19:25 PM |
