What kind of videos? Why would you ever want to turn anything into a pan and scan. OAR is what you want. 6/25/2008 1:07:13 PM |

Why would anyone want to convert compressed mpeg4 BACK to mpeg2? I thought the point was making the file smaller. This seems silly. Someone ripping it, compressing it, then somone downloading it, and converting it back to mpeg2. You lose so much quality. 6/25/2008 1:25:11 PM |

save yourself the time and if you have an xbox360 or PS3 just stream them using Twonky Media. 6/25/2008 1:38:13 PM |

ive been using imgburn to build dvd image files from avi's but when i try to write the image to disk it just copies like the folder over instead of making a dvd movie... i might be doing something wrong but i have no idea.
also tried using dvddecrypter but it usually messed up and wouldnt respond 6/25/2008 1:38:34 PM |

^^^Yeah i was being overly sarcastic to make a point. I just find it silly when people take so many steps to watch something. Like dvd-->mpeg4-->back to dvd.
Or another example is my friend just got a 37" 720p HDTV and he still insists on downloading HDTV rips at like 366P. So it goes 720p-->366p-->redisplayed at 720p. SO SILLY and they look horrible. I know it saves time but it defeats the whole purpose of an HDTV. It would look better on a SDTV.
^^Exactly. Or dvi-->hdmi/s-vidio/rca from computer. Or cheap dvd player with usb port hooked up to external HD.

I don't know about him, but I am trying to convert widescreen format movies that were on SD channels that I recorded from my Media Center onto a DVD in order to free up HD space.6/25/2008 2:25:04 PM |

DVDFab works great. You can use "Main Movie" mode to select specific vid/audio/sub tracks so you don't need DVDshrink for that.
i still don't know if it can or how to make it output a single vob instead of multiple vobs. for now i'm doing a 'copy /b first.vob + second.vob + third.vob new.vob' in a windows command prompt to combine them.
Then i'm using AutoGK to convert them to XVIDs. at 100% quality setting, theyre about a third the size, look the same as the DVD to me on a 52", and stream very nicely over wifi to the PS3 from my PC using TVersity. 6/26/2008 2:45:53 PM |

dvd flick works awesome and it is very easy to use... thanks coolio526
you can add any video file and it automatically encodes the audio and video and then uses imgburn to burn the image to a dvd... ive already done 3 movies and they took about 1 1/2 hours for the whole process on average
as far as dvdfab... for some reason i can only choose image files as the source to burn to dvd so it's not really useful for me right now, although i could be doing something wrong

yea no problem, I found out about most of my programs I use through tww. Yea it looks like you might be doing something wrong in dvdfab you should have the option to just rip the data to your hard drive. Im not sure why your getting a disk image, my default was just to remove the encryption. 6/28/2008 11:44:07 AM |
