I've been living here in Raleigh in an apartment for about a year now, and sadly, our complex does not have a pool Granted, I know I could get into one, but seeing as its usage has been halved due to feces in the pool, I don't really wanna go there.

So I looked up the City of Raleigh seasonal pools. And was looking to get a punch pass. However, how the heck am I gonna prove my residency? The power bill is in my roommates name, I pay the cable bill online, and my drivers license is from where my parents live (which is in a different city and county, though still in NC).

Normally, I wouldn't really care, but the price almost DOUBLES for non-residents of Raleigh. Anyone have any experience with buying passes from any of the pools and are they really that anal about residency? Any ideas?

Just go to one of the hundreds of apartment pools in the triangle.

If they're really strick they will want to see raleigh city tax forms, wake county voting stuff, etc.. I live in pay rent/bills in raleigh, but I'm still considered a resident of Pasquotank County/Elizabeth City, NC. They probably won't be that strict (a pay stub, lease, student id may be good enougth).

^^^ Yes, they do. I'm actually not down there, thank god, I'm in one of the other complexes (and our building being bought out by another company and my desire to not move all my crap was probably the only reason why I renewed)

I would just go to one (or call) and ask to sign up and say you're a raleigh resident and would like that price. If they give you any crap, offer to show them a copy of your lease and print out a digital version of your TWC bill (they should have that option online, I think).

Really shouldn't be that big a deal.

Oh damn, that's disgusting. So I'm guessing they can't clean the pool due to water restrictions, or are those enough of a non-concern now that they can suck out the water, bleach the bastage, and refill it so you all can swim again.

The indoor pool in Pullen Park is nice. I also used to go to the pool near Whole Foods. It doesn't tend to get very crowded because I think most people have no idea it's there lol.

I forget its name. It's right across the street from the middle school over there. Basically go down Wade heading for 440, and turn right at the light right after Whole Foods. You go not even five minutes and you'll see the middle school on your left. Turn onto the little road that goes to the middle school and the pool is on the right.

They didn't ask me for proof of residency when I bought mine. I swim at Pullen. It was absofuckinglutely packed the last time I went. I stood there for several minutes waiting for a lane to open and as soon as I was in the pool there was a constant stream of people mulling around looking for a lane. You couldn't stop for a minute to take a sip of Gatorade without people asking if you were done or giving you the evil eye. Combination of school being out and a heatwave being on I guess. I plan to go only early A.M. and late at night for the rest of the summer.

I've ever only run into a lane shortage when I went during long lap hours.

Now I go muuuuuuuuch later in the day, on days I don't have work. I get to sleep in, and not have to worry about finding a lane

you only have to drain a wading pool for a fecal accident, others are just a little while to a day closure depending on if its a floater or soupy. i think u-village was closed because of repeated broken glass. its required to drain a pool if glass breaks in the pool and then clean it thoroughly to ensure there is no glass and then refill. its a task that costs thousands of dollars. it probably stayed closed because they wanted to punish people as much as because of water restrictions.

so remember, no glass inside the pool gate. not even on the deck. no beer in glass bottles, no wine bottles, no wine glasses, nothing. those rules aren't just for giggles, they are to keep swimmers safe.

the e-mail and printed newsletter we call got specifically stated glass AND feces. it was closed for these reasons. now it's closed every day at 6pm and all alcohol was prohibited. no visitors and ID requirements were also part of the rules but i don't think they bothered with those in the end.

^ I have a NC driver's license. I'm pretty sure they won't bitch and moan at me for having my address in Apex. And besides, only seen a cop once in my three years, and it was for a DWI checkpoint.
