Is there anything I can buy to improve the graphics on my laptop? I have a Gateway MT6841 with an Intel GMA 950 graphics card.

Right now I just play warcraft III FT and the GMA 950 is all I need. But as SC 2, Spore, and Red Alert 3 come out I'm going to need something better. I can spend about $150 on it. Any suggestions?

the gma950 is an onboard graphics card. they all inherently suck.

unless your laptop was specifically designed to have a user-upgradable video card. since it came with a gma950, i highly doubt it was.

Unless they come out with express-card video cards like creative did with the express-card sound card. Although that's one reason i like my old dell laptop. The sound card/video card slides out and can be replaced. Bumped my laptop video card up to a 9800 pro 256meg a while back.

-one reason why i don't ever buy a laptop to game on. I'll just want to upgrade it at some point in time for a new game and won't be able to. Laptop=web/media/etc, desktop=gaming.

agreed, but there's some people who just can't limit themselves. Past 2 roommates have been halo/TF2 addicts.

^did it actually ever come out? I heard about it way back in Jan 2007:

http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/hands-on-with-the-asus-xg-station-external-gpu/

but i don't think it actually came out. asus website says:
Quote :
"The XG Station is currently scheduled to be released at the beginning of Q2 2007. A full package will include the XG Station graphics docking station, one ASUS EN7900GS graphics card and assorted accessories.
"

Plus it was only a 7900gs.
