Got a great idea, and already have the database to support it. Just need someone with iPhone skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to program it for me. I have a programming background, and I will focus on the web side of the business ... someone let me know if they are interested.

Any information gained while using TWW will become property of TWW and all of it's users in an equal share

Therefore, tell us, and we will all have a percentage of your business venture

and BTW, if you just thought of it, chances are someone else is programming it as you read this, sorry

hiring a Ukrainian via oDesk.com is my only choice I guess...

Thought there might be someone here interested ... app uses apples GPS, needs to upload/download xml, and output something minimal to the screen.

let me guess... find nearby restaurants/movie theaters/music venues?

If that's it, you might wanna go back to the drawing board.

yeah ... not exactly ...

They have a sample app that just tells you your location ... I looked at it, and its seems that all the functions needed are there.

I just need someone whos willing to mess with it and use the testing environment to get the app up... no free time to do it myself.

So really ... anyone out there willing to do this for 16 per hour.

Just need a simple program created, asap.

Basic functional requirements:

Main menu where user selects a state.
Based on state selection, download xml file from our server with listings for that state, and then output those listings to the screen as another list.
User then selects a listing from that list (listing has an ID assosciated with it in the xml). Program should then download a final xml file to the iphone for that specific listing.
This final xml file has a few entries in it.

User should be able to scroll through the entries (left arrow on the left, right arrow on the right, content in the middle of the screen.
When user is on a particular entry, that entry has a longitude/latitude associated with it.
Program should poll gps info, and use the gps distance function included in the sdk to calculate the distance to the entry from the current location.(outputing distance on the screen, as well as other info included in the final xml file).

Willing to pay, and/or include some ownership stake.

I wish I had spent more effort trying to make something with the SDK, I'd be all over this

If you have time over the next 3 days, feel free to give it a try. If you are a fast learner, and you know c, and have any experience with mac app programming, I think you would be able to pick it up pretty quick

yeah ... but do you have any experience programming on the iphone, and can you turn a product in a few days? 16 per hour for someone to LEARN how to do it isnt bad.

Obviously if you could turn out this basic functionality in 10 hours, we would pay more.

And yes, % ownership/profits can be negotiated depending on how quick we can get this out.

you should take a stroll in the just-opened Apple app store, see if you're idea is already taken.

i know, which is why i was suggesting you take a peek....

The Yelp app sounds like it may include something similar to what you're doing.

c'mon, they're doing exactly what you want to be doing. You say "not even the same subject matter" when the subject matter is really the ONLY difference. Maybe you should just d/l their app and decompile it....

ok ... by "not the same subject matter", I mean it has nothing to do with business listings and area reviews.

I just simply want to input some coordinates(via xml), and output to the screen the distance between me and that location.

A good programmer would not have a hard time with this, and may even prove to be lucrative.
