^^^yeah I checked the library, no go.

^^indeed.

I do buy books, usually. But used from amazon doesn't really do anything for the publisher/author does it?

you know what, Noen? go fuck yourself

some people (like me) OWN a sizable library's worth of books, but also feel entitled to the digital copy...if you disagree, fine, but it's the same argument that record companies use against those who own the CD but rip to MP3 for the sake of convenience

^^ except that (surprise!) you had no idea if he already owned a copy or not...you just realized that there was an opportunity to share with us your useless opinion and you went for it...i can't say i really expected any less from you, as most of what you contribute is obnoxious bullshit, but then, i don't imagine you have anything better to offer

^ did you forget how to edit, or do you really think your opinion is that valuable?

And actually, quagmire, I know Grandmaster fairly well in internet terms, and I could make a pretty fucking good educated guess that this was not the case. Go take a shower and wash the sand out of your vagina.

I know how to edit, I just like to keep replies to douchebag, completely worthless replies like yours separate from actual helpful content. Love to see how you've contributed NOTHING but wasted space to this thread, while I've not only given him a valid suggestion, but pointed him to the SPECIFIC locations where he can legally get the book for free.

As with everything in this thread, you would be wrong. As much as it may suprise you, I lead a pretty awesome life replete with friends, loved ones and an above average pecker. Sorry to disappoint you there, guy.

Also, book available new on Amazon for 17 bucks.

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Swan-Impact-Highly-Improbable/dp/1400063515/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1215569419&sr=8-1

Used for 10 bucks. And no used book money doesn't go to the publisher, but it sure as hell helps the used book dealers who rely on honest, integral individuals to make a living and feed their families.

I don't live in Wake county anymore. it's checked out from at least one of the branches I searched in Pitt and ECU's only had the audiobook.

Noen does know my internet persona well enough to assume that I was pirating the book even without considering the #threadtitle. I also knew that he would post a response in here exactly like the one he did. It just doesn't bother me because it rarely ever amounts to anything (unless someone is sucked in to argue ) and I know some of the semi-hypocritical things he's been a part of in the past.

I should really buy the book, but like I said used on amazon doesn't really do anything but put me in a better position ethically and well I'm not too overly concerned with that right now.

I did find the mp3s, I wasn't even thinking of that medium or even that source, so gg GoodLock. In the future I shall refrain from specifically requesting such items.

--Eh, looks like a couple more responses snuck in before i hit post. tt mod can lock/del if they want.

Also, just an FYI for ya Grandmaster, a lot of times you can request the book from the Library and they'll get it from another county/branch for you.

I used this a lot when I was growing up to get books from Raleigh and Charlotte branches that they didn't stock at my local library. Worth a shot at least.

And you know I just bug you like telling a smoker to quit smoking

here let me solve this stupid argument:

http://www.amazon.com/Black-Swan-Impact-Highly-Improbable/dp/B000PDZFCK/ref=kinw_dp_ke?ie=UTF8&qid=1215605589&sr=8-1

This book was highly relevant to me last year when it first came out because I was actually working in the financial world developing VaR models and stress tests to measure risk and exposure of hedge fund portfolios. Taleb....well he called it. We put way too much faith in, specifically VaR, but generally what we do know, ignoring what we don't know.

how is that a solution? Those ebooks only work on the Kindle, and who in hell wants one of those?
