Just started this morning. Last night everything was fine, but this morning, my laptop isn't recognizing my external. nothing in device or disk mangers, not drive letters, not found int add new hardware.
all other USB devices are recognized and working.

any solutions?

Vista SP1, Seagate FreeAgent desktop 320 GB external HD

it powers up, and if I put my ear next to it, I can hear some clicking...

nvm, found the problem. I have two power cords which look identical, and I mixed them up. apparently one doesn't work quite right.
