Well, let me ask you a question first. Do you think it's time to upgrade, or does it work for what you're doing with it right now?

If it ain't broke, don't fix/replace it! Save the money. I've got a laptop from 4 years ago that I am still using now, and I use it for more or less the same thing you do. I have a desktop computer that I use as my primary system for doing anything that requires some computing power (video games, cad drawings, etc).

If you just want to upgrade and can afford to, then go ahead and do it. It'd be wiser to hold off and just keep your laptop going, financially speaking, but I admit I like having new toys myself, haha.

^^ Yeah, that mac air costs 3x what your laptop did new, and that's including the recent $500 discount they gave it.

It's not worth the money, lol.

yeah, that ain't worth worrying about.

I'm typing this post now on a PC that i built in 1998 originally and put a new mobo/CPU in '02.

my work machine is a powerbook G4 that i got in '04. (ok i do desperately want an upgrade on this one, but still)

when you see that guy with the macbook air, just think about that $2500 that's still in your bank account.
