Just in case anybody doesn't know....
You have to have an employee email AND the last 4 digits of their id number....
Can't log on to confirm, but I heard the rates went up too.
SERO = sprint employee referral offer
was 30/mo for 500 minutes, nights and weekends starting at 7, unlimited data and text

I heard about this.
I'd been counting on switching to SERO when my contract is up in September. I'm going to try my damndest with retentions to get something similar to old SERO plan.
They don't need to know that I don't really intend to switch to ATT just to have an iphone 7/12/2008 12:51:24 AM |

just go into a sprint store and chat up one of the reps there. when you take their business card with the email address on it see if they don't mind giving you their ID too? Retentions switched my 2 line account to a sero plan with some random email I found. (Granted it was before this rumored switch, but usually they don't let you keep your number) So maybe you will get lucky.
They better not fuck with my plan.

New 'SERO' Plans as of 07/10:
(All plans includes unlimited web/text/gps/sprint tv and will work with the new Instinct phone.)
Everything Plus 500 - $59.99 Everything Plus 1000 - $79.99
The 500 minute plan for $30 and for 1250 plan for $50 will expire on 7/10. Customers on these plans will be grandfathered and remain on the plans, but all new SERO activations will be on the new plans.
Ambrosia, you could have converted your current rate plan to SERO anytime without having to wait for the end of your contract. You missed out!
[Edited on July 12, 2008 at 7:14 AM. Reason : The new plans are only $10 less than regular consumer plans] 7/12/2008 7:13:19 AM |

That's not what I'd heard or been told. Also, I didn't pursue the matter too much because I have my mom and sister's phone on my plan.

Port number to some other service, prepaid, for 30 days Call up sprint and sign up as a new customer, under SERO, and have them port number from the other carrier.
^hahaha...based on perusing the plans page, it's actually $5. There's a $5 stupidity and/or blackberry fee on the 450min Simply Everything plan:
Quote : | "This plan includes * Unlimited mobile internet and messaging: Web surfing, email, GPS Navigation, Sprint Music, Sprint TV®, BlackBerry® Internet Services (BIS), text, pictures, video * Domestic long distance and roaming * 900/450 plans: Unlimited mobile to mobile, night calling starting at 7 p.m. and weekends" |
I think for most reasonable, non-white trash customers, sprint TV and music don't matter at all. I'll admit don't know what this BIS business is (or how much of a perk it is), or whether they charge for data usage on GPS nav. I know I'd sign up for the configuration below:
Quote : | "Talk/Message Text, share, send and talk your heart out with your phone. This plan includes * Unlimited messaging: Text, pictures, video * Domestic long distance and roaming * 900/450 plans: Unlimited mobile to mobile, night calling starting at 7 p.m. and weekends" |
450 os $50/mo. The data plan add-on is $15. So get this plan, add the data add-on for $15, and you have the same thing as the Simply Everything plan for $5 less
I am finding out what this blackberry business is
According to the rep, BIS is only for the 99.99 plan.

BIS is the proprietary internet service that gives you access to BB email and the BB web browser. Without it, you would have to use opera mobile and GMail instead of the integrated apps. For most people with Blackberries it is worth it. 7/12/2008 11:15:58 AM |

Oh WOW. I'm sooo glad I switched to SERO a while ago, even if I did just smash my HTC Touch's screen. (Phone insurance FTW!) 7/12/2008 1:49:51 PM |

well, fuck sprint...the SERO plan was the ONLY reason to have sprint in the first place (for $30, i'd put up with a crappy network and even crappier customer service)...now they can't even offer a good deal...i guess they're REALLY counting on the instinct to draw customers now 7/12/2008 6:35:05 PM |

Talked to a sprint rep, who said it was only on the $99 everything plan, and that blackberry users would have to be on that plan.
And, ok...so for some people, the GPS nav is worth $5 more a month, on the 450 plan. For me, it's not. That's what google maps + data is for
Also of note is that they have said no discounts on the everything plans . That warning isn't attached to the other plans.
Sprint has given me a good many bargaining chips to use come september (I have a 23% discount through USAA). I intend to pay absolutely no more than 40 for unlimited data, text, and at least 300 minutes...mainly because I don't talk that much on my phone (in addition to the usual nights/weekends at 7, free mobile to mobile stuff). I'm gonna try my damndest to get something akin to the old SERO plan.
And I'll be recording that call

Sprint has blown cingular (the only other provider i've had) out of the damn water.
Once you get your account right, they don't randomly fuck it up nearly as much as cingular did. And as long as you call during normal business hours, you don't get a hajeeb in indonesia trying to pass himself off as john. With cingular, i was young enough to not have figured out that bit, but the reps were so. fucking. rude whenever I would call. Consistently more bitchy than I am on a bad day
I've noticed some degradation in coverage lately, but I don't know if that's because I have an older, crappy phone on its last legs, or if their service really is declining. We'll see, come september.
I don't have high standards: don't fuck up my account/billing, give me reliable coverage (which cingular consistently failed to do, over three different phones), and don't give me any grief when I do have to call in to correct your mistakes. Thus far, sprint has pleased me quite a bit, especially since cingular screwed up so royally.
BTW, to build a monthly plan comparable to the sprint 450 unlimited text + unlimited data add-on @ cingular is $75. Nights/weekends still start at 9 7/13/2008 5:46:04 PM |

^ well, yeah...at&t blows donkey balls, but they know that if you want the latest phones and/or GSM, you have no choice but to go with them...if you want to compare CDMA carriers, sprint is by far the worst of the big three (well, 2, now...and we'll see what happens come january) 7/13/2008 6:45:48 PM |
