Can anyone help me out here? I'm looking at a Santa Rosa laptop (GM965 chipset) with a Merom processor (Core 2 Duo T5750, 65nm, 667MHz bus).

Will Intel Dynamic Acceleration (IDA) work with this configuration? I've Googled around and it could be interpreted that IDA will work on a Merom processor as long as you have a GM965 chipset, however I'm thinking IDA should also be a function of the processor. The list of Core 2 processors on wikipedia seems to imply that IDA only works with Penryn processors because the first mention of IDA on that page comes under '"Penryn" (standard-voltage, 45 nm)'.

I know that I probably shouldn't choose a laptop base on IDA alone because I read it doesn't make a big difference, but I'm just curious. Does anyone know for sure?

Thanks.

Someone else further added that the T7250 supports it as well and I'm guessing, going by the trend, the T7800 also supports it, assuming those guys know what they're talking about. It looks like IDA works with Merom processors that start with T7xxx and run on an 800MHz bus. What's special about the T7xxx series over the T5xxx series? There are two T5xxx's that I see that have the same cache and also run on an 800MHz bus. Would they work with IDA?

Thanks for the response. I think my curiosity is satisfied at this point. I also read an article at anandtech that said IDA isn't worth the bother because it won't kick in most of the time and only yields a marginal performance boost, so I'm not too concerned anymore.
