Is this repairable?? DIY maybe?

I bought this LCD off craigslist and got it home and no backlight. The woman was a soccer mom in Cary so I do not think she ripped me off purposely. I only paid $40 bucks for it, obviously it has some years on it because it is Tan not grey/silver.

welcome to LCD hell

this is why you shouldn't buy a plasma. they get dim after 10 years of continuous use. as opposed to the DARKNESS that is a failed LCD.
