I need to replace 2 side windows in my car and need to know where would be a good place to go for an estimate. Insurance is paying for it so price isn't really an issue and I want to get it done right the first time. 7/16/2008 8:56:18 AM |

in all honesty at this point, I feel like anything can go wrong.
My car was fucking blasted by a tree that it was parked next to that got hit by lightning.

take it to the dealer if you care about resale value.
if you don't then any of them will do. 7/16/2008 9:49:00 AM |

Most auto glass places (well all I've dealt with) will come to your home or work to replace windows, I don't know about a dealership. 7/16/2008 10:31:31 AM |

dealerships most likely don't travel.
he's looking for an estimate. most places will quote you over the phone for something like that. if you need factory glass (with the logo) buying the glass from the dealership or getting them to do it would be your best bet.
if you just want the same without the logo, anyone will stock it. 7/16/2008 11:07:20 AM |

I think most companies can etch the logo onto the glass. There are only two auto glass manufacturers if I remember correctly that make pretty much all the OEM glass and the stuff you get from a repair shop.
I'd still go to the dealer if I didn't have to pay for it though.

I got a quote from glassone online and they'll come to my place and repair it so I guess that's what i'll do if the insurance company is ok with the quote.

Try Safelite, they installed my drivers side door quickly and pretty low-cost (120 maybe?) Insurance covered it after my car was broken into. 7/17/2008 7:23:03 AM |
