I can't seem to get my PS3 to stream media from my PC. I have spent hours on this and it just doesn't want to work. I have tried wmp with no sucess and Tversity which worked for an hour or so and then quit working. I'm running XP.
Please help/ Thanks. 7/19/2008 10:04:55 PM |

I'm using Orb with my PS3, it was really easy to setup. Only issue I have is that video playback is sort of choppy, but I guess I can blame my internet connection/PC for that. 7/20/2008 11:56:29 AM |

wmp works fine with my PS3 on XP. Can you see the media server from your PS3? 7/20/2008 3:28:16 PM |

My PS3 doesnt find a media server and wmp doesn't see the PS3. Tversity worked great for about an hour and then the PS3 stopped seeing it even though the PS3 shows up on the Tversity screen. This is really frustrating. 7/20/2008 4:06:24 PM |

tversity works awesome, i'd recommend it. make sure upnp is enabled on the router 7/20/2008 11:28:04 PM |

upnp is enabled
I think it has to be a firewall issue but I have checked everything I know to check 7/21/2008 1:09:59 AM |

enable upnp on the router and in xp's firewall. I would use nero's home media server, as it worked best for me and let me organize my media the best. I would also make sure everything was wired to the same/switch router. 7/21/2008 8:31:23 AM |

I actually have UPNP disabled everywhere. Always seems really flaky to me and never worked well. I pretty much just use WMP with media sharing enabled. It'll disconnect or reset the connection once in a blue moon but is pretty solid most of the time. 7/21/2008 10:20:36 AM |

Okay, my Tversity is now working. However, wmp is stilla no go. IDK what happened, I tried toggling a couple of settings in the router setup window and it started working. I'm sure it will crap out on me again.
Now we play the waiting game. 7/21/2008 11:58:35 PM |

^ The PS3 can natively play those formats. 8/27/2008 6:55:55 PM |

this does not play on the ps3 or through tversity
Type: Video Codec: XVID Title: V:[Undetermined] Dimensions: 656x288 Aspect ratio 2.27:1
Type: Audio Codec: MP3 Title A:[Undetermined] Sampling rate: 48000 8/27/2008 7:06:09 PM |

there is no single set standard for xvid, AFAIK, so whether a particular codec will play a particular xvid is kind of a crapshoot. There's nothing you can do about this.
You can transcode it to a different format, or just buy/rent the movie you're trying to watch.

it looks like the ps3 will only play them if they have nice even resolutions, my other files play fine 8/28/2008 6:08:03 PM |
