alright, so i have 2 weeks off and i want to go fishing with my dad. we're in the lake norman area, and i havent fished there since like high school. used to just fish off the docks at the marina, but since i cant do that, im wondering whats my best option. dad is willing to rent a boat, but theres no telling for sure whether fishing from a boat is worth it if we have no idea where to go, and on top of that it's tough to rent a boat early enough to get out on time and have to return it before fishing is good at night.

so what's best? forget the boat and just find some places on lake norman/mt island lake to fish from shore? im thinkin about maybe just trying out some spots at latta plantation, so if it ends up that nothing is biting, it's not like we've rented a boat for the day with nothing else to do.

suggestions?

If you are going to rent a boat and go on Lake Norman definitely try to go on a Weekday, it can get busy and choppy on the weekends which can kinda spoil your fishing fun.
(although I think its been a little less busy lately b/c of gas)

thanks...but it's like $250 plus gas just to rent a boat for the day, so i think we're just gonna try to scout out some spots to fish from the bank. their hours are also shitty and we wouldnt be able to get out until it's already too crappy to go fishing.
