Ok, so I am considering Smithfields, Red Hot & Blue, and Coopers at the moment. Maybe a mix of BBQ and a Chic-Fil-A chicken tender tray even.

Has anyone already done the research on pricing on such and comparative value of bbq catering? Any other bbq joints to consider? I prefer the thick memphis style pulled pork that RH&B has, so I am leaning that direction.

We are throwing a party in August and looking to buy the food and pick it up ourselves. Looking to spend ~$150 for 25 people for the meat and maybe one side. I will be cooking some other sides myself.

Look into holy smokes

Bf's coworker had them for his wedding, and the bf's company liked it so much that they went ahead and got some for the company july 4th 'cookout' (you know, as much as you can have a company cookout, at work, when housed in venture #)

I quite enjoy their food.

last time i used cooper's for catering, it was $4.75 a head (a year ago for a tailgate)

includes BBQ, fried chicken, potato salad, slaw, and pork rinds, sweet tea, pink lemonade, and everything you need to serve it.

cooper's is the cheapest in town

and depending on who's cooking on any given day, it can also be the best

The BBQ from the Nahunta pork outlet at the farmer's market is tasty but you'd have to get the sides somewhere else.

smithfields absolutely sucks compared to everything else compared here.

also to add: mccalls, yummmm

they've got a good selection of "party packs" and you can buy them and pick them up yourself or they can come out and cater.

A year ago the BBQ and Ribs Co. catered my wedding.

It was the last catering job they did right before they shut down shop.

I don't believe in omens.......but still.

It was great, btw.

I am thinking I may do 2 seperate places to get a nice mix, like RH&B and Coopers... I will be in contact with them and price the stuff this weekend. If Coopers is really that inexpensive in comparison to the others, then it seems they are in the lead.

Not trying to start a bbq war, but not everyone likes pork that is loaded with more fat than meat.

^, ^^ OK, truce.

I ate at Smithfield's last night, actually, and they had catering info. As far as feeding a lot of people goes, if the price is right, it probably isn't such a bad idea. They had packages for 20, 30, and 50 and I think they ranged from like 6-7$ a head. But the sheet also said they could customize orders and give deals for catering.

I'd go with a BBQ that has less sauce/vinegar anyway if feeding the masses, and their fried chicken is pretty good. Slaw is slaw if you're getting mayonaisse-y slaw... nothing special.

Then I'd get stew/potato salad/baked beans/ whatever sides you want from somewhere else.

... and definitely not their tea. I could feel the tooth decay it was so sweet.

i actually have coopers catering menu in front of me

for for a catered buffet of 125 people it would be $7.25/person and includes just about everything except dessert. catered buffet is also all you can eat

for a pick up buffet it's $5.50

I used to go to an annual event put on by the Bioinformatics Research Center some years ago. They used Lancaster's out of Garner and the food was always good.
