So I paid some guy back in Winston to install a stereo on my '04 Tundra about a year ago. The truck has the 10 speaker JBL system, and steering wheel controls, so all those adapters had to be installed too, and now I am getting this horrible buzz through my speakers. the buzz seems to be related to the engine RPM, but i know nothing about the wiring, and dont know how to fix it.
I imagine its something as simple as a bad ground connection.
thoughts? anyone have some time to come take a look at it? I could throw in a 12 back of busch for your troubles (assuming you're 21). 7/31/2008 1:34:48 PM |

Pretty much positive it's a bad ground.
What you speak of is called "Alternator whine", but I dont have much time to check it out for you.
You may even need to install a "Ground Loop Isolator" if you cant find the bad ground connection.

I just did read a little bit about it, but when it comes to electrical wiring, I tend to stay as far away as possible. 7/31/2008 2:19:02 PM |

It is 95% of the time a bad ground, which is either loose or dirty. It should be a very simple fix that some one with zero experience can at least try a couple of fixes on. 7/31/2008 3:46:45 PM |

or if that truck has a factory amp and it is still in there and you are running the high level from your aftermarket deck to the factory amp, it is a good possibility after a year you have damaged that factory amp. (not sure if the tundra has a factory amp though) 8/1/2008 11:10:04 AM |
