I've had issues downloading files while setting up my new computer - running vista, if it matters.

I'll download a file - examples have been CCleaner and a couple of plugins - and it'll bring up that firefox-downloading box with the download speed and size, etc.

Then, when it finishes, there is no link to click "Open this file" or some such. The download box just goes blank. But, on some other files, that link has been there with no problem. There is no trend as to what type of files will have that "Open now" link- it seems random.

More mysteriously, after the file has been 'successfully' downloaded, it does not appear on my computer at all using the search function for the file name.

Ideas?

Uninstall firefox and reinstall it. See if it fixes it.
