it has to do with a lack of an hormone which fosters the inability to grow the cronkey bladder located just beneath the lungs

without this bladder the ability to navigate in the water is EXTREMELY difficult making swimming near impossible

I just got back from a training event where we had to do a water survival test. Out of the only 6 black people in my platoon all six of them had to be labeled as weak swimmers. (There were no people of any other race labeled as weak swimmers)
We all got a good laugh out of this.

As a very skilled African American swimmer, I personally cannot relate. However, one of my close friends have been diagnosed with a non-functioning cronkey bladder. This came to light after a near death incident at his local YMCA

Hmm well when I was at Rose High from 1994-1998, Rose was like 65% white, 25% Blk, and 10% everything else.

On our swim team during the years I was there, on the guys team we had 1 multiracial guy(me), one Asian guy, and 4 white guys

On the girls swim team, we had 1 Blk female, 1 Asian female, 1 Indian girl, and 5 white girls.


on the girls team the blk and Asian female were our strongest swimmers,

and on the boys team I never placed higher than 4th out of 8, but by far our strongest swimmer was this Asian dude whose last name was Shibata.

black women don't like to swim because of hair reasons. Their hair is naturally curly and dry. Hours and tons of money are spent a week trying to keep it straighted and moisturized with oil. Water ruins it.

Mine was! I was the only black person on the swim team and I graduated with about 275 in my class. Of that, 8 were black.

So I think it was equivalent!

Every black woman that I have talked to that does not have their hair natural has confirmed this to be true. I have a lot of black lady friends. It takes a lot of money to wash, relax and oil their hair so I would not be swimming either.

In my case, I took a swimming class and learned i can't point my toes, which pretty much kills my crawlstroke and makes me sink like a rock. The other black people in the class swam very easily except for one girl who was absolutely terrified of the water (she took the class to try to get over it).

My swim teacher said black people's bones tend to be denser than whites' so we sink easily.
