Wasnt sure where to post this, so if it needs to be moved, my apologies.
I'm looking at buying a Giant TCR 2 Road bike with 500 miles on it, Shimano 105 Flight Deck Levers, 105 Crankset, Ultegra derailleur, Terry Butterfly saddle
They're asking $600 bones. Is this as good of a deal as I think it is? 8/6/2008 11:19:16 AM |

Is it a C2 or just a 2? If it's carbon, I'd say that is a pretty solid deal, if aluminum, then only a decent deal - all depending on how well it was taken care of. I have an '05 C3 with 105 all around and a cheap wheelset. I think I paid ~1100 for it in March '06. 8/6/2008 11:32:15 AM |

Yeah, that's a pretty nice deal actually if it's the carbon.
I have a TCR C3 and paid about $400 just for the frame on ebay!
If it's aluminum frame, it's an ok deal, but you could probably find better deals out there. 8/6/2008 11:39:29 AM |

As long as it's been maintained properly, I'll second that. It's a fair deal, so unless you want to shop around, it looks solid. 8/6/2008 1:14:03 PM |

Yeah, I mean, with only 500 miles on it, there's not really much in the way of maintenance.
But yeah, you're right. Proper maintenance is key 8/6/2008 1:40:43 PM |

Mileage on a bike isnt really a good indicator
I have a bike that has less than 20 miles on it and it is about beat. I also have a bike that has over 3000 mile on it and it looks/performs flawlessly.
As said above, maintainence is key. Find out where the bike was purchased and you can then check to see if the maintainence has been done at that shop or not....not real likely that the techs there will remember that specific bike, but ya never know 8/6/2008 3:15:15 PM |

Id say that 600 is a little much for something with a 105 set. IMO
I bought a Cannondale a couple years ago with ultegra, used, for 600
Id push for 500 and that would be a good deal 8/6/2008 3:55:17 PM |

It really depends on if it is carbon or not.
Here is just a carbon frame going for $350 http://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/750870675.html
Here is a basic 2 that is a bit older but extremely low mileage that someone is asking $900 for http://raleigh.craigslist.org/bik/728737124.html
And note it has an Ultegra rear. 8/6/2008 4:26:07 PM |
