so if i hook up nothing but my raptor and power on, after about 4-5 seconds it just powers down. If i unhook the raptor and hook up the other drives, there's no problem. It's only when the raptor is on that this happens.
Most of my other drives are IDE, but I do have another sata drive that runs fine.
Any ideas? 8/6/2008 8:21:27 PM |

haven't tried it in another machine (don't have another box in the house that supports sata). No, i'm not booting from it. 8/6/2008 8:30:37 PM |

^ more like broken image?
but yeah, velociraptors are the smaller raptors, while deinonychus is what was actually portrayed (what's really messed up is that i was such a dino nerd as a kid that i knew this and told everyone i knew when the book came out that crichton was wrong...then i realized that "velociraptor" is more fun to use than deinonychus, so meh) 8/7/2008 9:43:20 AM |

^^ off topic, but what is the answer to #2? 8/11/2008 10:50:38 AM |

^ It doesn't specify the speed of the other raptors, so i'm not sure you can determine it. 8/11/2008 10:55:25 AM |

^ but you could use the numbers given in question 1 (assuming the other two raptors aren't injured and that the raptor in question 1 represents the average raptor) to determine how quickly they can cover the distance between them and you...using that information (which should go to illustrate your resourcefulness), you should be able to figure it out
i'm not mathematician, and so my assumptions are probably off, but i would assume that it would be between the injured top raptor and one of the other two healthy raptors...given the speed of the top raptor is diminished, i would assume that you'd run between the two raptors, keeping closer to the injured raptor
assuming the top raptor is at 0°, then i'd guess you'd want to run at either ~40° or ~320°

^ But in question 3 it says raptors run at 10m/s.
If you assume the raptors continuously track you though, that's a fairly complex problem.

the correct answer is to put down the raptor eggs and toot the raptor skull 8/11/2008 12:00:21 PM |

#1) just over 4.5 seconds
#2) 120' between raptors, assuming the top raptor is 10m/s, the other two are 25m/s you would then split the 120' between 25 & 10, thus you'd want to run at either 34' (if top raptor is 0') or 326', it may be a bit different if you calculate acceleration into this one as well.
#3) no floor plan given
