I am all done with grad school Make the best of it while you can... I never went to orientation... I was on vacation in CO
8/18/2008 1:24:34 PM
Oh gosh. Grad school orientation was painful. I didnt even go here for undergrad and it was a waste of my time. It was 90% fluff and 10% stuff you should already know. I think I ended up leaving early, it was a 9-4 thing (or something like that)
8/18/2008 3:04:35 PM
Yes, all the clever folks left after lunch.Lousy lunch too. Needed more calories. >:E
8/18/2008 3:06:31 PM
We also have a grad bbq where you get to meet others in your program and classes as well as your future teachers.
8/18/2008 3:07:00 PM
aside from introducing you to the school, it's a good networking platform as well.I still remember my orientation. met some of my best friends there
8/18/2008 3:10:04 PM
Grad school orientation can be summarized as one sentence:Welcome to the worst time in your life, where you will be sacrificed so professors can feed their huge egos.I fucking hate it, only went to grad school because the profs lied to me.
8/18/2008 3:10:37 PM
grad school is a commitment, and can be very difficultbut you're a nut jobeveryone/everything has its qwerks I guess

8/18/2008 3:17:03 PM
I've got one thing to say about grad school: Non-thesis.
8/18/2008 3:28:11 PM
vet school orientation was last sunday
8/18/2008 3:28:39 PM
^^ haha, I wish. wasn't an option for me though. I would have graduated so much earlier if I didn't have to do a thesis
8/18/2008 3:30:23 PM
Yeah, wasn't really worth the time... but I got a free lunch.
8/18/2008 4:03:24 PM
8/18/2008 4:14:56 PM
pharm school orientation was today.. free stuff for the win
8/18/2008 5:05:04 PM
The actual classes for grad school haven't been that bad... but working near fulltime while taking 12-16 hours a quarter has been tough... the biggest adjustment to me has definitely been the time management. If I had to balance this much as an undergrad I would have been toast (as I am MUCH more mature now)..The driving kills me too since Davis is 45 miles from where I live and 60 miles from work...[Edited on August 18, 2008 at 5:08 PM. ^^^ Well, there was a general orientation today that ate up a lot of time.I'm doing the non-thesis degree because our department seems to have a bit of a problem with the runaround. I figure this way I can circumvent some of it and just deal with the usual crap I put up with during the semester with my usual classes.
