i still like how they say "hackers" discovered this information. Uhhh, no, it wasn't hackers. It was people using google's cache.
8/21/2008 7:42:52 PM
i don't understand why there's an age limit to this. if you can win gold at 12 years old, then why not?and don't give me anything about the chinese forcing kids into it.
8/21/2008 7:52:20 PM
the Chinese forced the kids into it.
8/21/2008 7:53:20 PM
i can play mah jong like none other, i should be getting a retirement check. fuck age limits and shit!

8/21/2008 8:59:00 PM
personally I think they should (and would) strip the entire team as well, I was just posing the question because I haven't seen in any article so far that they would do that.
8/21/2008 9:00:42 PM
personally I think they shouldn't but may. the rule is in place to protect people like her, simply enforcing a medal revocation would go against the basis of the rule's existence in the first place.if there is blame to be laid it's the people that forged her documents. she's the best in the world and that's who gets the gold medal
8/21/2008 9:11:02 PM
She's perpetrated in the lie as well though. She's personally said she's old enough. Its not like they lied to her and she had no knowledge. She knew she was breaking the rules, whether they "forced" her to or not.
8/21/2008 9:12:42 PM
it's china, you get shot for telling the truth...

8/21/2008 9:20:20 PM
^ basically people keep saying that she's the best in the worldwell she might be for her agebut older gymnasts have to work against more thingsmost notably puberty, which destabilizes their center of gravitynot to mention the natural wear and tear that doing gymnastics for longer would take on some of the older gymnasts' bodies
8/21/2008 9:24:55 PM
i agreebut if an entire country told her she'd get away with it and it wasn't a big deal, she'd be on that shit so fast.it's not an easy thing to contemplate and I'm still on the fence about most of it. but either way, it would be sad to see her little face if they took her medal
8/21/2008 9:26:15 PM
^WHAT is wrong with you? She cheated. She knew she was cheating. Who gives a shit how upset she is, she KNEW she was doing it. This is whats wrong with this country.
8/21/2008 9:38:00 PM
Do you notice how none of the Chinese gymnasts have parents at the Olympics and it's in their fucking country?Culture's different over there, they're in this because they have to be so they better be the best, they better be whatever age they're told, they better do as their told.
8/21/2008 9:39:27 PM
how can you tell, they all look alike?
8/21/2008 9:40:36 PM
they should be stripped of their gold team medal. they've found things that say that He is 14, and suspicions that two of the other girls are 14 as well.they don't deserve gold if they can't play by the rules.
8/21/2008 9:43:11 PM
part of the reason why the age limit is put in place is to protect against abuses resulting from the pressures put on elite competitors by coaches and parents. puberty is an issue like Fuschia said; a lot of pressure can be put on girls to use various methods of suppressing puberty which can have significant impact on their development and long-term health. If there is a limit of only having 16 year olds compete instead of 14 year olds, it becomes impractical and much more difficult to do, so it reduces that pressure and levels the playing field.
8/21/2008 9:44:40 PM
Their leotards should say "Must win gold or family dies"
8/21/2008 9:45:11 PM
she didn't cheat, FUCKFACE. she whooped the shit out of us when she was just a baby. rules broken maybe, cheating? die plz
8/22/2008 12:02:25 AM
you're right. the advantage she gained by breaking the rules, mainly the greater flexibility, lower weight, better center of gravity... yeah, that advantage isn't cheating. how could we have been so dumb?
8/22/2008 12:03:25 AM
yeah it's pretty much cheating. Was the little league baseball "kid" from a few years back not cheating??HE WHOOPED THE SHIT OUT OF THE COMPETITION[Edited on August 22, 2008 at 12:04 AM. Reason : .]

i don't know, man... when three members of the team are too young, that's really stretching it. at that point, you really do have yo DQ the entire team. one member, i could let slide, but not 3
8/22/2008 12:12:24 AM
^^ But if you watched the gymnastics events, it's VERY clear that some of them did not deserve their medals, despite not being the youngest of the team. Their leader, Cheng Fei, landed on her fucking knees during vault and still got a bronze medal, robbing Sacramone who landed both her vaults successfully. There was some messed-up scoring, regardless.

^^^^ well okay, three is a whole nother story, I thought it was only 1 in the article. Again, the damaged reputation is whats most important.
8/22/2008 12:18:47 AM
hold on here. it puts older gymnasts at a disadvantage b/c of puberty? so the fuck what? this isn't equal opportunity medals, this is a world class competition. if you're the best then you're the best.puberty??jesus christ.
8/22/2008 12:22:22 AM
ummm... given that puberty fucks with your CENTER OF BALANCE, i'd say that's a HUGE advantage for pre-pubescent females. then, again, there's the whole weight-vs-power ratio thing... the whole higher flexibility thing...you know, the whole cheating thing, basicallybut hey, age doesn't matter, right? let's just let 15 year olds play teeball, right? it's only an age difference. let's let 15 year olds play peewee league football. it's only an age difference, right?[Edited on August 22, 2008 at 12:24 AM. 8/22/2008 12:23:43 AM
so what? if younger girls are better then younger girls are better.what's your point?they keep old kids out of teeball b/c they're too good, but this isn't ymca teeball, it's the fucking olympics. the whole point is that the people competing are THE BEST. why would you exclude someone b/c they're too good?w/e, you're a fucking idiot.Walk-ons are competentThank you so much for insulting the efforts of the players on the men's basketball team. I'm sure they will have a blast over the next couple days trying to figure out which "6 or 7" of them are "competent." It's so kind to refer to walk-ons as incompetent members of the team. Walk-on players practice just as hard, and they put in the same amount of effort as their counterparts with scholarships. Furthermore, no one should call players like Bryan Nieman or Dennis Horner incompetent. Nieman played a huge role in our victory over Virginia in the tournament, hitting two crucial and back-breaking three-point shots, as well as being exceptionally scrappy on the defensive end of the floor. Horner also made huge contributions to our ACC tournament run. The fact is, we should applaud our walk-ons for their efforts this season. We should applaud them for their dedication and work. And we should applaud them for doing all of this without being offeredscholarships. Please, don't denigrate their efforts or even begin to suggest that they aren't competent.Bryan BurroughsSenior, Computer Science[Edited on August 22, 2008 at 12:28 AM. They just mentioned that the entire American relay team that won Gold in Sydney was stripped of their medal last year because ONE guy admitted to doping. So yeah, the whole team would lose their medals, and they would go from 6 overall medals, with 2 gold, to 2 overall medals, both bronze.
