I am on a wireless network and it works fine for me and it used to work fine for my GF's laptop but all of a sudden one day it says that there is limited or no connectivity and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get her internet to work. I tried the ipconfig stuff but it couldnt renew an ip address and I also tried to unplug the router/modem but that didnt do anything. I tried a couple other things in the command prompt that I read online but cant remember the exact names of it right now
Any ideas how to fix this?
And it is a Dell laptop running XP 8/22/2008 5:53:31 PM |

I'm assuming the router is set to DHCP?
I usually set the IP to static and manually enter the IP's, then I don't have these issues. 8/22/2008 5:55:50 PM |

it is just a basic router setting with a password
also, she tried to get on at caribou coffee where she normally can get internet access but it didnt work either 8/22/2008 5:58:02 PM |

well maybe it's the opposite problem, are you sure her settings are set to "Obtain IP automatically"?

No I am not sure because I don't know a whole ton about networks but I do know it did work, she didn't do anything, I didn't do anything in regards to networks so I don't know why it all of a sudden messed up
An hour on the phone with Dell solved absolutely nothing 8/22/2008 6:03:16 PM |
