If you ever get a chance, go ahead and go check it out. It's a really impressive facility. The "typical" planetarium show is called Carolina Skys and is really quite good. When I went it was narrated by a dude named "Meteor Mike", and he was incredibly informed and engaging.

Right now they have a coupon good till the 30th of August that does a 2 for 1 on Tuesdays... so that would be only this Tuesday. Also, they have student rates, so... that's cool, but probably cant' combine the coupons with the rates, whatever.

Go. Its fun.

yup

I went two summers ago, good times really. One of the neater things is that you can go to the planetarium show and then just drive south to Jordan lake and test out your new found skywatching skills.

i went sometime in the last few years, they said they were switching to a digital star projector soon instead of that old star projector. they said it was one of the last of its kind which i thought was kind of cool. they also said they could project what the night sky would like from anywhere on earth if you gave them a date and location

That sounds like a really awesome date idea but I'm also a total nerd who loves the planetarium. I kind of miss the laser shows too, those were bad ass.

Last time I went they did this for us.

I know. It beats the Southern Hemisphere, that is for sure. There, you're looking for a black spot near the horizon that has no stars. Lame. No wonder they sent all the convicts to Australia.
