"rich" wasn't the main point of that sentence. furthermore, I wasn't talking about the republican party, i was talking about the convention attendees, which apart from elected delegates and token human interest stories, I imagine are generally wealthy people (same is true for DNC)

ok then - without having seen the context, that sounds like an unfair attack on McCain.

However, that is what got Gen. Clark in trouble. Nobody bothered to listen to the context of what he was saying, and focused on his last sentence - something like "being a POW is not a qualification to be President". Which is unarguably true, but he was accused of dishonoring McCain and his service, which was bullshit.
So i don't know, maybe Carter has a point. From the USA Today article, he seems to be referring to the one "debate" with Rick Warren. This quote is reasonable, but of course the media will pick up on and run with the "milking" quote

John McCain is an undeniable true American patriot that sacrificed for America in the past, but he does not represent the right path for the future of America. He is a good man and an outstanding soldier, but I seriously doubt he will be a good president that will cater to the needs of the majority of Americans.
