My new mobo doesn't have a floppy controller and XP doesn't recognize my SATA drive during the installation. How the fsck can I install on this bastard?

Also tips on dual booting with a linux distro would be helpful. I am using a broadcom wireless NIC so support for that would be nice. Or a guide on using ndiswrapper to install the driver. This is difficult for me because the only internet access I have is through my phone until I get this box fixed. Help!

go to http://www.nliteos.com/ and make a slipstreamed version of xp with the drivers you need

Man I was totally hoping TinyXP would have the sata drivers but it doesn't seem to have the ones I need. They are allegedly on my MB cd.

Is there some way to put them on a usb drive and add them in when I press F3 during installation?

Got a link?

TinyXP rev 09 claims to and I saw some sata drivers load but maybe they weren't the right ones cause it still failed to recognize my drive?

Could it be something else?

I was able to mount the drive no problem in PClinux running on the livecd

i had a similar problem a few years ago when I built my computer, I think I had to change some settings in the BIOS to get it to work.

W00t

Switching the bios setting did it.

Thanks you!

Anyone have advice on configuring a dual boot? Probably with 64 bit kubuntu.

yeah - i have used it before

you have to get it from a legit source though - lots of people put up fake torrents for xp black edition with all their spyware preinstalled

change your background, then add a bunch of pirated apps = black xp

pretty much - but it has a lot of driver packs slipstreamed in so it helps in some cases

there is a xp black lite that i used to use - no pirated stuff, just firefox, thunderbird, etc. (essentials) and all the rest of the driver packs and things you need to have a system up and running as soon as the OS is installed
