I have two girls, ages 9 and 12. I’m looking for a mature, responsible, energetic person to pick-up one daughter from Lacy Elementary and then stay with the girls and help with homework after school. We live off Lake Boone Trail, about ten minutes from NCSU. It would be for a few hours in the afternoon (only Monday - Thursday) until 5:30 at the latest. The pay will be $80 per week. Please contact Connie at 785-9666 or conniejsullivan@hotmail.com. 8/30/2008 12:02:21 PM |

with (hopefully) a stipend for fuel. with fuel prices, figuring in fuel along with wear (and tear on their vehicle) with pay makes it a no go.
i wonder if there is a person out there who will do all the work for very little in return?

You will not find someone that you would want to take care of your children for the pay that you are offering.
Even when I was first starting out babysitting in HIGH SCHOOL, I did not work for less than $7 an hour. You can expect that a college student with a clean driving record will demand at least the $7 + standard mileage. And anyone who has watched children before knows better than to fall for being paid a flat rate for the entire week. Parents are notorious for abusing this.
I am a parent and I have over 7 years of experience as a private live-out nanny. Trust me, you do not want someone who is willing to work for that amount of money transporting and caring for your children.

^ that thought crossed my mind, which is why i asked. still, adopting a 12yo and a 9yo at age 25, that too is pretty hardcore. the thought also crossed my mind that maybe she married someone older that already had kids. and it also crossed my mind that it isn't any of my damn business. 8/31/2008 10:26:27 AM |
