LOL

Im debating weather or not I should try to get in to the Cisco aNCE or aSE program, or switch over to Extreme. I suppose it depends on what they are offering, but Id like some inside information on what its like to work there.

I have actually been in the building, the lab setup is done fairly well and you can tell there are some laid back people in there. The rest of the building appeared to still be in works as far as cubicles and that sorta thing. We do their calibration work so thats pretty much all I know about them, that and all their equipment is purple so that it will stand out.

I don't know what the company is like to work for, but definitely do NOT like the gear. Had negative experiences with the gear in two locations now, and will not consider them in the future.

They poached a bunch of software engineers from Cisco recently. They don't seem to be too happy overall. A couple that I know of are thinking about coming back to Cisco.

I hear Arista is where it's at in the world of startup networking companies/cisco competition.

prolly half the company is ex-cisco.

I've been with Extreme for over 3 years now and I've enjoyed them all. I guess it depends on what department and group you work with though - I'm in Services.

PM me for specifics if you're interested in knowing more info.

^^

ehh, only if both believe they can continue to maintain current margins with current product/services vectors for ever, and that's definitely not the case for either.

and as for SDN, well Cisco is definitely a major player there as well, depending on what definition of SDN you use.

the access routing guys, i think. i heard cisco tried giving them better counter offers but many of them were sick of working there and left anyway.
