Gold's on Battleground in Greensboro. I'll be there around 6PM tonight, and every other weeknight from here on out, if anyone wants to stalk my fat ass.

Besides a buddy, which would be welcome, I also need a little advice - I'm not an overweight girl by any means - I'm 5'8" and weigh about 135, but I want to get in better physical shape. I'm doing really well with cardio, but I have no idea how to even begin with the weight training.

One thing to note - I broke my right elbow 2 years ago, and I don't have full range of motion anymore. It doesn't ever hurt too bad - I just can't touch my right shoulder with my right hand (if that makes sense)

You can join for $29 plus another 1 time fee of $75 I believe. It doesn't add up to $250 though! That's a little bonkers.

What exactly are you going for? Are you looking to build muscle mass or just firm and toned?

That's another bonus of the Y - I inquired, because I'd heard that if you need them to, they can waive the $95 joining fee. When I asked about this, they told me about their financial aid program.

With my income, I ended up joining for $22.70 for the entire year.

Does nobody go to the NCSU gym?

Now that I'm back in school, it's nice to try to go during the day, around 11 or so.... when I'm not too busy, such as this week.

Usually I just go to the gym at UNCG. But I've been debating on whether or not to join the Rush fitness center for a while. The company I work for offers incentives if you work out often and it's a really nice complex.

are you still a student? you should take weight training for PE. they teach you proper form, how to use machines/dumbbells, how to design your own plan, and the instructor will know how to work with your injury. If you're not a student, you could do online research or hire a personal trainer if you have the cash.

Don't worry about "bulking up." As a 135 lb woman that's not going to happen.

Quite a few of my male family members (my two brothers, a few of the cousins) joined Rush, and they seem to really like it.

^6 -- I don't want to get crazy and bulk up. Just more definition in my arms and legs, a more toned butt and a little more definition in my abs. I'm on the waiting list for a personal trainer at Seaboard - they're booked until the end of the month, so I want to get a head start on my own.

Stop being afraid of lifting weights.

You could lift heavy weights for the next year and you would not bulk up.

Jesus, I don't know why girls are so afraid of lifting weights.

IF you don't lift weights, you want to know what will happen? You're going to end up having bone, skin, and fat. And no muscle. That's what happens when you see skinny girls with cellulite.

Jennifer, I agree with Nerdchick. If you're a student here, I'd totally take Weight Training. I'm taking it now with Coach Montcalm. She's a woman and it's an all-female section, so no intimidation, but LOTS of good information and help.

Don't you know? If you're a girl and you curl a 10 lb dumbell once, you're going to wake up the next day and look like a female bodybuilder

I go to gold's gym at Pleasant Valley, if anyone is up for a workout partner lemme know. I usually go about 3-4 times a week, both cardio and weight training. I know some good routines on how to lose weight and build/tone muscle that I'm currently working on, I can sure try to help you out if you want

also want to mention I go after work, usually between 5-7pm give or take a few. I don't do any heavy lifting or any bulk up stuff, I'm mostly working on slimming down cause i'm overweight, but at the same time building muscles to give me a good shape. I'm probably a great partner for a girl, and I know that makes me sound lame and gay.

so mostly running, upper body lifting, and a bunch of ab workouts.

I train at Planet Fitness daily between 4-9pm (varies daily, but always within that time frame) I think everyone on TWW that works out at PF knows me already but I'm just throwing it out there. I train alone but I'm always happy to help girls (and guys) design a weight training program or make suggestions for focused muscle-group training. Come find me when I'm doing cardio... I promise I don't bite.

I go to the NCSU Gym(mostly the rec center) for 2-3hrs every single day and on Saturdays usually in the mornings...sometimes I take Sundays off for a rest day, but for the most part, every MWF 12:30pm-3pm and TTH 11:15am-3pm

my roommates schedule doesn't really sync up with mine so we can't work out together anymore but I'd really love someone else to work out with to help with spotting/boredom...I usually start the day out with 10-15min of cardio(jog indoor track), stretch, lift on a specific muscle group for 2hrs and then finish with 20-30minutes of cardio(elliptical/bike)...

I've lost 85lbs since Jan '08 and plan on hitting -100lbs by xmas...

I'm very contempt with where I am weight lifting wise but a buddy to help push the last weight off via Abs/Cardio would be extremely helpful, those are my most dreaded areas to work since I get so bored and abs just plain suck

There are tons of resources on campus if anyone has any questions about lifting weights (or working out in general).

Stop by the Fitness Suite (2nd floor of the Rec Center) - there's usually at least one personal trainer around to answer any questions. Or you can set up a free equipment orientation and learn proper form and technique, how to use preset programs and the benefits of the equipment.

Personal Training is available at a reasonable price: http://ncsu.edu/stud_affairs/campus_rec/fitness/personal-training/rates-policies.php

We also have an "Ask the Personal Trainer" table set up on the 3rd floor of the Rec Center on some days.

And don't forget fitness classes! Here are the descriptions:
http://ncsu.edu/stud_affairs/campus_rec/fitness/group-fitness/descriptions.php

Or feel free to ask me

Not to mention the coaches as resources. There are even a couple of them can critique the form of the olympic lifts, or atleast refer you to someone who can.
