I want to install a shopping cart for a site. Hostgator has automatic installs of certain opensource software (zencart, OSCommerce, CubeCart)... my question is, it comes with it's own layout and menu items etc....but I want to be able to keep the site looking like it does WITHOUT the cart but I can't seem to find an easy (or any) way to change the templates (like having MY header and MY footer appear). You can do that right? Anyone else use any opensource, or even a paid program to implement a way for people to buy items from your site? 9/4/2008 4:50:50 PM |

investigate templates for whatever software you want to use. With some work you can probably anything to work within your general site design.
For sites we set up we developed our own software, so making templates is easy, we can do whatever want with it. Obviously with third party software there are limitations though. 9/4/2008 5:55:30 PM |

Both OS Commerce and CubeCart can easily do this. I've customized both, CubeCart is definitely the easier of the two, but they are both template based, so you can make it look integrated. 9/4/2008 8:44:00 PM |
