Hopefully someone on here will have some good ideas.
Sound worked a few days ago but I noticed it didn't work today. it's a HP pavilion dv9700 laptop running vista. I can hear sound through the headphones off the internet (youtube), but cannot listen to itunes or wmp through headphones unless I restart the computer with headphones already plugged in. The laptop speakers do not work at all.
Says that the speakers are " controlled by realtek HD audio device". I cannot find any info on the soundcard (weird), but device manager tells me my driver is up to date.
I tried a system restore but it did not help. volume is up all the way and mute is off and I'm not deaf
Thanks.

Re-install your current drivers for your sound. If this doesn't work, update to the latest drivers. If this doesn't work blame HP for making shitty drivers.
I know how this goes. My T60 has no keyboard input sometimes. I will restart it and it will have input. The computer just fails to load my keyboard drivers for some reason. I think it only happens after I unplug my mouse or plug it in while the computer is not on. 9/13/2008 9:38:45 PM |

someone else is having this problem that I talked to today. They said Vista did an update earlier this week and when his machine rebooted the audio drivers were screwed up.
I'd try reinstalling the audio drivers, and if that doesn't work whine @ HP on the telephone. 9/13/2008 10:06:31 PM |

This is a software issue. Failing to load the keyboard drivers. Formatting my T60 eliminated all of the software issues that I had with it except for the keyboard issue. I also installed different drivers for the graphics card, Lenovo's video drivers suck really badly. I have very few complaints about the durability of my T60, but the software sucks ass. Lenovo should fire every single one of their programmers.9/14/2008 5:02:10 PM |
