hagar the lolible
little blurb from minnesota newspaper...im trying to keep up with the shit that the other teams' markets are writing
Quote : | "I’ve never been a big fan of Panthers coach John Fox, but if the NFL had a Coach of the First Two Weeks Award, Fox would get my vote.
Heading into a season in which he is under enormous pressure to keep his job, Fox made the controversial decision to suspend his best player, receiver Steve Smith, for the first two games after Smith punched out teammate Ken Lucas in August.
With a season-opener at San Diego and a home game against a Bears’ defense that’s finally healthy again, many believed Fox was writing off the first two games of the season to take a stand against a player in serious need of anger management.
Well, the Panthers not only played well in Smith’s absence, they went 2-0, beating the Chargers on a last-second touchdown pass and the Bears with a fourth-quarter comeback.
Now, Carolina travels to Minnesota to play the Vikings on Sunday. Once again, the Vikings can’t cover the forward pass, and now they’re looking at having to chase a fresh and probably determined Smith.
“Getting him back is going to make our offense more vertical and much more dangerous,” Panthers linebacker Jon Beason told the Charlotte Observer.
While the Vikings’ are depressed at 0-2, the Panthers are a giddy 2-0 because they did it without their best player.
“It almost seems like a bonus for us,” Beason told the Observer." |

i will post the prediction of the inevitable
as we win the 2 games we are not expected to win w/o smith, smith returns and the panthers can't get anything to click it wont be smith's fault, it just won't be a good day on the field
i think the Gamble play at Minnesota the last time we played there is clouding my mind 9/15/2008 5:05:12 PM |

I have a bad feeling about this one, the Vikings have a good team and have to start beating people sooner or later.... I am concerned about the penalties from the Chicago game also.9/15/2008 11:36:37 PM |

It's amazing that the Viks have a top 5 defense and the 2nd best RB in the NFL right now and are 0-2. They have a QB that might not start for some colleges.... 9/16/2008 12:27:26 AM |

Chris Harris will play a big role in stopping Adrian Peterson. I'm assuming he'll spend most of the game in the box because the Vikings WRs aren't gonna beat anybody. 9/16/2008 10:47:42 AM |

Simeon Rice and Bernard Berrian both got banged up in the Colts game
per startribune (out of minneapolis), Sidney Rice sprained his PCL in the Colts game...sore, but hopes to play Sunday...he played 10 or 15 more plays after the injury Sunday and said when running full speed he could feel his knee "shifting around"
"Bernard Berrian walked with a noticeable limp as he left the locker room Monday. Berrian's big toe on his right foot has caused him problems since training camp." 9/16/2008 1:19:09 PM |

some people will never like Jake...we could win the Super Bowl this year and they'd say "it was all the defense and running game"...its like these people think there are just a bunch of Bradys and Manning waiting for you to sign them...its like we make a Superbowl and a 2nd NFC title game in the span of 3 years and the QB with the 2nd best playoff record in NFL history continues to get shitted on by his home team fans
Quote : | "Just cause smith can catch like a spider monkey does not make jake a good Qb" |
did you pull a Rip Van Winkle last season or something? how come when SMITTY broke his leg in week 1 against the Packers 4 years ago, Jake tossed 15 TDs to Moose and we were within 1 game of the playoffs? How come last year when JAKE went down, nobody else could get Smitty the ball and we looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL?
If not having Jake last season and seeing how we did doesn't convince you how valuable he is, I don't know what more I can tell you]9/17/2008 4:33:27 PM |
