I thought February was bad enough, now I have to be bothered with other cultures in September too?

ARGH
9/15/2008 10:59:14 PM
STFU
9/15/2008 10:59:32 PM
Seriously, was it just invented this year? I've never heard of it before but they have mentioned it like 30 times on MNF.
9/15/2008 11:01:00 PM
MNF...
9/15/2008 11:02:50 PM
Monday Night Football, I don't know why they care but they keep bringing it up and have been showing clips from the Spanish broadcast.
9/15/2008 11:04:12 PM
WE NEED A CAUCASIAN MONTH!
9/15/2008 11:04:54 PM
Can't have caucasian things. That would be racist.
9/15/2008 11:06:28 PM
I'd rather we just stop dedicating months to shit.Look guys, it's Safety Preparedness Awareness Overly Cautious Paranoia month! Stock up on your plastic wrap and duct tape!Oh wait now we care about this demographic. And now this one. And now we like the world this month, and then we like this demographic this month, and this month is dedicated to scat porn and blahblahblah. Shit's too complicated.
9/15/2008 11:08:02 PM
Scat porn month might be interesting.
9/15/2008 11:08:55 PM
niceway to equate latino heritage with a paraphiliayou guys are fucking monsters
9/15/2008 11:38:47 PM
Maybe if other cultures weren't so inferior to ours we wouldn't have to give them pity months so they don't feel so bad.
9/15/2008 11:40:59 PM
Nobody gives a shit, snewf. I'm equating it to pointless bullshit that doesn't interest me, because naming a month "so and so month" generally seems to be a meaningless gesture aimed at pleasing some small portion of the general public in some way or the other. I equate its usefulness to that of a candlelight vigil which we hold every time a white girl who knows more than 300 people (and has boobs and a nice face) dies. Also, I am the fucking monster here. Because having months dedicated to minorities seems like a lousy PR move that makes politicians wet their pants with anticipation. Oh boy, we can please this minority group and claim this month in the name of the Republicrats and live on forever in e-fame on wikipedia! Then they will all see that only the republicrats truly care about their special interests (which are different from the rest of the populace, clearly) and they'll vote for us in the next erection!Pandering is pandering is bullshit.[Edited on September 15, 2008 at 11:49 PM. ^ I agree vigils are retarded too.
9/15/2008 11:48:37 PM
And I'm not dissing candlelight vigils. For spiritual and religious purposes it's nice for a community to show support for a family/loved neighbor/somebody by holding such a vigil. When tens of thousands of people do it because some event was perpetuated by the news media nationwide, and people do such a thing even though they don't know said person/family, it waters down the meaning behind having such a vigil. About as meaningless as spending $1 and getting a livestrong bracelet. Go donate $20 to a cause instead and don't go wearing a bracelet on your arm with a shit-eating grin on your face like it means you care. There's a number of things I'm grumpy about like this. I'm like one of those people on the internet.
9/15/2008 11:53:02 PM

The lack of an "India Month" (dots not feathers) tells me that we, as a group, don't need cultural handouts as a contrived means of positive awareness.
9/16/2008 10:44:36 AM
dudethere was a 'rican parade where i live last weekend.yeah
9/16/2008 10:45:18 AM
What's the deal with a Puerto Rican Day Parade?
9/16/2008 10:47:39 AM

9/16/2008 10:57:11 AM
call me a piece of shit all you wantbut i think all these cultural "months" are incredibly lame.
9/16/2008 11:06:57 AM
Of course you would, you take all of your opinions straight out of the Bigoted White Christian Peckerwood Annual
9/16/2008 11:07:59 AM
I can't focus on anything for a month. Make it like a day or even a weekend and I'll try to take notice.
9/16/2008 11:15:55 AM
If we were smart, we would use one of the taxpayer-funded Latino celebrations as a perfect opportunity to round up some illegals and send them home.

I don't see how encouraging folks to learn more about Latino culture and history is a bad thing.
9/16/2008 11:40:04 AM
how do 20 second spots encourage or teach anything?
9/16/2008 11:41:15 AM

9/16/2008 11:43:43 AM
You honestly think the month has no effect? Nobody clicks on the links to lists of famous Latinos and the like?By the way, shit's going down in Bolivia right now:http://www.newsweek.com/id/158825/page/1

^ I'm not saying most people decide to learn more during the month, but I'm sure some do. That's advertising. If it didn't have effect, it wouldn't used constantly. Doesn't make the month cost effective or anything, but you shouldn't deny it.
9/16/2008 12:11:00 PM
I understand black history month because it's important cause they were oppressed and discriminated and all, but hispanic month? come on now if they don't think they are getting enough attention (and I'm sure they don't really care) they should learn the language and be citizens; it's not like we were colonized by spain[Edited on September 16, 2008 at 12:17 PM. I like these random months. You learn new fun facts about people and cultures. No harm in learning.
