That's why we have shows like Psych, to plain and simply say psychics are bullshit and all we need is intellect.

I hate Kal Penn. He is a horrible actor and has no talent at anything. He had some good scripts with Harold and Kumar and Van Wilder, but he is absolutely horrible and should not be on this show.

that episode felt a lot like a movie. Was pretty neat. He's a good actor, I liked him in Hitchhiker's guide.

His voice is probably one of the most annoying things I have ever heard. I cringed while watching 16 blocks whenever he opened his mouth.

Mos Def was on Real Time with Bill Mahar last week. For the most part, he was OK, but then at the end in "Overtime" (which is available on HBO.com) he showed himself to be a real jackass.

The other guests were Salmon Rushdie and Christopher Hitchens. They were talking about Al Qaeda, and first, Mos Def showed clearly that he didn't know the difference between Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Then, he started going on about "i don't even know what Al Qaeda even wants. They've never said what they want!"
Hitchens was taken aback, and laid out pretty clearly what Al Qaeda and the Taliban have demanded and what their overall goals are. Then the conversation basically went like:
Mos Def - "yeah, well, how do you know that?"
Hitchens - "are you mad? they attacked us over 8 years ago. If you don't know that by now you haven't been paying attention"
Def - "I don't trust the news"
Hitchens - "There are plenty of people reporting it"
Def - "I don't trust the news, and I don't trust you [hitchens] and I don't trust him [Rushdie]"
Hitchens - "Fine, listen to the tapes from Bin Laden himself"
Def - "I don't speak Arab"
Hitchens - "They are translated"
Def - "I don't trust the government translators"
Hitchens - "you don't trust the news, you don't trust the government, you don't trust commentators or pundits, you don't trust translators, you don't speak arab.... you're pretty much doomed to ignorance then"

so, unfortunately, that's almost all I could think of during the episode whenever he talked.

I hated the internal commentary and the first person perspective

holy shit, I just went to watch Bill Maher's overtime after reading ^^, and Mos Def came across as one of the most ignorant bastards I have seen in a long time, but he kept trying to force his point. damn, that was just sad

I thought this episode was really unique. It opened up the whole meaning of "House" even further for me. I think they are trying to sell House as more than just a socially inept brilliant asshole who saves lives, instead maybe his purpose on earth is divine? They definitely focused on the God-complex issue in this episode, putting House on a level higher of humanity, but below God.

^^^ well, i think he was mostly doing to ti be a dick, on purpose, in order to show how stupid and juvenile it is to go around as an adult, having people call you by a rap or hip-hop pseudonym like Mos Def

Hitchens may be British, but he's not known for going out of his way to be polite to people.

Mos Def picked the wrong time to try to make an intellectual point, though, when he was sitting across from guys like Rushdie and Hitchens.

Any word on why Kal Penn was written out of the story? Does he have other projects in mind, wants to get into politics, ....?

Welcome to the last two seasons.

This actually something of a regular theme on the show. I remember one episode, in particular, where House was litterally lying on a picnic table like Jesus being crucified...someone else that sent by God to save mankind (its the "One Day, One Room" episode).

Really, I think its part of the shows implicit argument for utilitarian morality. Intent doesn't matter, only results. And if results are all that matter, House is a Saint. That is an idea in direct contrast to the Judeo-Christian ethics beliefs held by most viewers (including myself).

This is all meant to make people question what they consider "good". It is just one of the many ways the show challenges its audience's ethical preconceptions. And I think that's pretty cool.

THIS SHIT HAS LAYERS, SON!!!

This episode was probably filmed a month ago, if not more. Don't you think if something had actually happened to Kal Penn that we would have heard about it before his last episode of House aired?

Supposedly this happened because he's getting a spot in the Obama administration, but really I think its because the producers realized what a horrible actor he is.

^^I completely forgot I posted that, but I mean it now as much as I did then.
