I have a hand held Black and Decker, and I'm wondering if it's ok to clean the inside with rubbing alcohol? It's kinda got some gunk built up in there, and it is starting to emit an odor when I use it. 9/16/2008 11:13:39 PM |

Yes, its really probably safe. It's mostly ethanol which shouldn't dissolve the plastic or anything. It exaporates quickly, so just let the part sit our for a while and let it all evaporate. 9/16/2008 11:24:52 PM |

gunk built up where? the cup or the motor ? you can wash out the cup with soap and water.
q-tips on the motor/fan part.
have you changed the filter? if you haven't or you've been running without one, that's pretty much the only way to build up gunk inside one of those things.
the newer ones have a foam filter in the exhaust.
you are in college, i had hoped that your language skills would be better. 9/17/2008 9:21:12 AM |
