I deleted all the stupid responses, which, incidentally, were all of them.

Try this again, without all the bullshit.

The most recent (previously) attempted attack on this particular embassy hit a girls high school next door...thats the type of people we're at war with folks...they dont mind shooting mortars at a girls high school as long as theres a chance that one hits someone at the US embassy.

This should serve as a wakeup call that we are still involved in a serious war. It seems the Kenyan and Tanzanian embassy attacks weren't taken that seriously by the general public because they were pre-9/11 and by and large we still didn't realize the severity of the threat. We don't have that excuse now.

I'm sure that is what the Chinese said Twista, when we bombed their embassy in 1998.

Speaking of Kenya and Tanzania, the Republicans claimed Bill Clinton was wagging the dog when he initiated attacks on al-Qaeda camps in Afghanistan; because he was trying to divert attention away from Monicagate.

Now that 9/11 was shoved in their faces they all the sudden become the biggest group of terrorism experts, they just have to ignore their statements from before then

That's also the type of people we are. For example:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I interpreted your earlier post as identifying this nation's enemies as morality inferior because they killed noncombatants. I took issue with that.

Collateral damage: Unintentional or incidental injury or damage to persons or objects that would not be lawful military targets in the circumstances ruling at the time. Such damage is not unlawful so long as it is not excessive in light of the overall military advantage anticipated from the attack.

^^the primary difference is, coalition forces were attempting to attack al queda fighters...al queda in this instance in yemen was trying to attack an EMBASSY...they werent even going for military targets in the first place

collateral damage is always bad...but especially if your intended target is a bunch of civilians

That is a legitimate distinction.

...except that military presence is not required to be a legitimate military target.

but how can you not see the difference in choosing to attack:

- enemy combatants
- an embassy

How can you not see that military presence is not required to make something a legitimate target?

I'd place an embassy somewhere between enemy combatants and school children on that scale.

Embassies are supposed to be pretty much off-limits. During WWII, it's not as though we were launching special missions to bomb German embassies in Argentina and Spain, even though they were using those institutions to coordinate military actions involving aid from those nations.

Intelligence gathering is fair game. The government telling the foreign embassy personnel to move out is fair game.

^^^i'm not questioning the definition that you provided...i'm asking how can you as a person not realize the difference in targeting military versus civilians???

^ I fully understand the difference between targeting civilians and military members.

What I disagree with is your belief that an embassy cannot be a military target.

^^^ Sure...military targets are on a continuum. An embassy would certainly rank less than actual combatants, but it would fall far from school children.
