you have to request them ahead of time so that they can figure out how many guest tickets to sell. for the ECU game i'm pretty sure the deadline to request was like saturday or sunday.

oh my bad, I thought you were asking how to use a student ticket. You should check the athletics website (as mentioned) for the registration dates. It's normally 3-5 days before the event.
