If he is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good at baseball, why didnt he get All ACC? Yall are assuming he will be ALL WORLD in baseball...so it is for sure he will be gone after next season. Isnt he pretty much a average/slightly above average baseball player right now, nothing to write home about? I guess they still get drafted high, huh? If he becomes All World in baseball, I figure he will be gone after his redshirt junior year...when he will be basically finished with his classes.

Good Lord don't post if you don't have a clue.

He got drafted out of high school for baseball.

And he didn't play because he is a middle infielder where we already had Dallas Poulk at 2b and Tommy Foschi at SS. He will start at SS this year.

1500 people get drafted every single year in the MLB draft...and that doesn't even include the compensatory picks and everything...so basically, its not like the NBA where there are only 60 picks so they're all coveted...you can definitely take some risks

We will have major problems if Russel doesnt get drafted in the MLB after next year. Glennon will most likely not stay here if it looks like Russel will play out all of his eligibility at State.

Plus we have no backups after beck and evans. So if Glennon leaves, 2 years from now we are looking extremely thin at QB.

Wilson would have been a 4th or 5th round pick from what I've read had he not said he wanted to play CFB. That isn't bad for a middle infielder out of HS...

His future lies in baseball, no doubt...

Going to be major MAJOR talk about who the QB will be next year.

Glennon did not come to NC State to sit on the bench.

On top of all that, we changed our system to fit Russel Wilson. Meaning that if Glennon starts, we have to change back. That will cause more headaches.

Evans is gone after this year, Beck is gone after next year.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

Glennon came here specifically to learn from Bible. It is NOT a major problem is Russell doesn't get drafted in MLB after next year, because he's awesome. Where have you read anything about Glennon not staying if RW plays out his eligibility, or is that just conjecture on your part?

IMO the talk won't start until 2 years from now, next year it's Wilson's job to lose. I don't think anyone comes to a school with guarantees he will be a 4 year starter.

IF he doesn't go in the baseball draft after next season, I expect a QB controversy in 2 years.

You guys are ridiculous. How is it a major problem to keep a starting QB for 4 years?? I'd rather have Wilson for his RS-JR and SR years than an unproven Glennon. We can recruit other QBs...playing Glennon isn't a program defining move.

We should hope to keep Wilson for as long as possible then deal with the QB problem when it gets there. We don't need to hope Wilson leaves early just to keep Glennon happy. He's the best QB in the ACC as a RS-Freshmen for crying out loud.

Have you read these posts? First of all, he's already a sophormore in baseball. And hopefully Glennon won't mind playing second-fiddle to RW, at least during his redshirt freshman and sophormore year.

EVans is graduating. We have another QB coming in next year. Everett Proctor, sounds like he might be pretty decent:

^^^for some reason that made me laugh pretty hard

Wilson will be the QB here as long as he wants to be, obviously barring injury. He is really, really good and is the type of QB that can win you a bunch of games. The best part is he is so fast but still so accurate. He didn't have one pass against UNC, besides purposeful throwaways, that didn't hit the receiver in the hands (sadly there were about six drops). He really, IMO, doesn't have a weakness. I would say height but he rarely has a pass batted down b/c he gets out of the pocket so much and can throw so well on the move.

whenever wilson decides to pursue baseball hopefully glennon will be as good as advertised.

Its a problem because we wont have anything other that Russel.

Any backups behind Russel will be recruits we dont know about yet. So its still a big ?

You don't know that though. Nobody ever knows how their backups are going to REALLY perform until they are actually put into the position of being the starter. If Russel lives early, then we'll have Glennon for a few years. If Russel stays and Glennon waits it out, then we'll have Glennon for at least one year. If Russel stays/leave and so does Glennon, then we've got at least the Proctor kid...and I'll assume at least one or two other QB recruits in the next few years.

So that's why you don't worry about it until the situation gets there. Remember that no one thought Russel was going to be this good right now. You just have to wait and see. We're lucky Wilson is doing great right now so we can wait a few years before we worry about it.

What, in the hell, are you talking about? Glennon. Proctor. Beck. AGain, what, in the hell, are you talking about?

Yes, this QB controversy talk needs to end, now. We're in the best situation we've been in in a LONG time. So shut it.

It's not like Glennon won't even smell the field. He will get his chances to showcase his skills during blowouts either way, or if Wilson should need some rest. That should be enough to appease him since it's obvious he is the starter-in-waiting.

I was wondering about that.

I know that scout has him as an "athlete" and rivals as a "qb & s".

How are you so sure he won't be a QB?

Anyway, let's focus on the thread. Russell gets better every game. He seems to be a leader and stand-up guy on and off the field. Seems to have a good family life. I was at the b-ball game and just by looking at him and seeing how he handled himself, he seems to be extremely intelligent, confident, and humble. State's lucky to have him.

The biggest problem is when we have NO PLAYERS AT ANY POSITION in 4 years!! What will we do then? BEU, you need to sit down with TOB and sort this out ASAP.

I wouldn't put much into Proctor at QB. We told him we'd give him a look at QB if he'd be our QB for this year's class and commit.

But before the end of the season Proctor lost his starting spot at QB and they moved him to WR. He has done well at WR(think 2 TDs his first game) but I don't know if he'll make it at QB. Which is why you see us jumping on some local talent already for the '10 class.

I think the most important thing for our offense (in general) is to work out the kinks and start out well early next season so that we don't have to play catch up again.

I love the idea of having a college quarterback above a pro quarterback in terms of style. Russel Wilson is the kind of quarterback that is great in college but can't be shit in the pros. He has the potential to dominate for all of his years at quarterback.

With that said, I don't think TOB will put up with this nonsense of baseball practice during spring practice now that he is the starting QB. If Glennon doesn't fuck up during spring practice the job will be his.

^^O'Brien didn't put up with it last year either. Russell didn't play baseball during spring practice unless there was a weekend game and no practice. He said he has to do that if he wants a shot at starting in the fall, so he did.

Baseball does not conflict at all with football....and will not considering he is on a football scholarship.

I don't remember where I saw it, but I think TOB told him last year that if he wanted a chance to be the starting QB he had to be at every single spring practice......... and he was at every single one.
