Just a few hours ago test drove a 2003 X5 4.6is, 350 hp.

Amazing cornering and acceleration.

Guy is selling it for $24,500. Has just 48,000 miles on it, and is in great condition. Initial cost is not a problem... maintenance and parts is. 4 tyres cost $2,000+, which is just crazy, and they have to be changed every 20,000 miles.

And last week, I drove a friend's A8 4.2 with a JE Design bodykit and exhaust system.

Sounded like a jet. Took it to 120 mph.

brother's Prelude to HT b/c my car was blocked in. And early early this morning a new VW Jetta 2.5

And let me say the gearbox in the Jetta sucked ass. I'm not a fan of that shift pattern to begin with, and that damn thing was loose with no feeling in it at all. Made me look like I was driving stick for the first time

I wanted to drive an 2003 today, but the dealership wasn't open. It isn't worth the $30,000 that they want for it. I would only offer $21,000 for it. The front end needs re-aligned and the front brakes are rusting. This M5 is like a slut, it finds its way around Hickory. This is the 3rd dealership it has been for sale at in the last 9 months with nearly no miles put on it. I think that it has something (very expensive) wrong with it.

Fathers 2005 Infiniti QX-56 and 2008 Sierra Denali with the aluminum 6.2.

Even though the Infiniti has only 315 and the Denali has 405, I still think that Infiniti would walk the dog on that Denali.

Then don't buy it.

Then just don't bother. You're not getting that car for $21 if it's listed at $30. Just move on.

i drove a focus---wagon.. yay

Zetec power ftw. zetec is like vtech, NOT vtec. it does not vary cam timing, LOL

110 whp is FAST.

on a side note, i hate diesels. i had to change a vacuum pump on a e350 with a 7.3 PSD.. its quick-ish, but it fucking brakes alot. and they shoehorned that engine into a tiny fucking engine bay that is impossible to fucking work in. i cut my arms up like a bastard. and the vacuum pump is on the top. when i changed the powersteering pump.. i was cursing for a week.

since my QX4 got wrecked and has been in the shop I've driven (all rental cars) a 2007 mazda 6, 4 banger (sounded like a weed eater), 2008 2007 Chrysler Aspen (decent MPG for a V8 and roomy with 3rd row seating) and now a 2007 Dodge Charger with the 2.7L V6. its a pretty decent car and actually sounds pretty good for a small V6.

Come on now, you know that no four-stroke, I4 motor sounds anything like a weed eater.

I hate the sound of a weed eater, but I've never been in a car that sounded like one. The Saab 92, 93 and 96 two cylinder two-strokes kind of sound like weed eaters, but not really.

The Clio is fun in a more traditional way.

I'll tell you what's more exciting, a 1.6 liter Focus with 3 people in it trying to outrun a trolley driving the wrong way on it's tracks across a busy street in Istanbul...

Are all VW's like this? I'm finding by owning low torque Japanese cars I'm simply not used to notchy and heavy feeling gearboxs at all.

^^ I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine that there aren't any here. It would be a fun silly little car to own, that's for damn sure. I really like that 93 on the dyno, it seemed pretty badass. Apparently the 92, 93 and 96 all have a steering column mounted shifter too, which is the heat.

There's also the Sonett II V4 which used a 1500cc Ford V4, lol. But man, if you could find a Sonett I ("Saab 94") or II that would be the shit! I'm pretty sure both used a 750cc three cylinder two-stroke, apparently only 6 were made. Both could hit 99mph son. The Sonett II could do 0-62mph in 12.5 seconds, so you know it could take my bike at the track (And it'll take y0 vert like it's nothin' f00).

Quote :
"In September 1996, car number 1 broke the Swedish speed record for cars up to 750 cc with a speed of 159.4 km/h (99 mph)."

Here's the Sonett 1:

Saab made all kinds of weird shit back in the day.

come on jared thats just made up. 4 bangers =/= 1 banger. plus i actually like the Mazda6 and have driven a few over extended amounts of time and they're too quiet to even hear anything distinct from the engine bay.

porcha I believe all BMWs and VWs use that shift pattern. Why I have no clue. As far as being loose and notchy thats my opinion. I've driven a lot of manuals, but most have been Japanese (Honda in particular with a lot of S2000 action recently). So I might be biased.

this little Nissan van thing. it's kinda like a VW Vanagon. 5 spd manual. don't know anything else about it--it's our aircrew van, so I'll be driving it regularly for the next 6 months.

Automotively speaking, I had the best day of my life ever, just a few minutes ago. (on par with me driving my friend's Cayman)

One of my students' father owns an exotic car showroom, and also an exotic car rental company. The student 'owns' an Audi R8. He just took me for a ride in the most beautiful car ever made. It was black with dark beige coloured leather inside. I experienced the following:

- 177 mph
- 0-62 mph in 4.5 sec (timed with my stopwatch)
- donuts
- figure 8s

As well as speeds of ~120 mph several times, and hard acceleration a few times as well (from about 20/30 mph to around 70/80 mph)

I am speechless!

But I think my day will get even better soon, as he said he will let me drive it after about an hour since he has a class now.

the aircrew van is a Nissan Urvan. it's probably the only thing i'll drive until the spring.

actually, one of our Majors acquired a Ford Focus that had been basically sat aside by some organization here as undriveable. he put new brake pads on it (though no rotors, as we have yet to acquire any, and the current ones are about as bad as i've seen, as the parking brake had been stuck). it drives, although i think it runs really poorly--the gas is probably at least a year old in it, and i wouldn't be surprised if sand/dust has infiltrated the fuel system, as it seems to get everywhere else. one of the windows doesn't roll up, but it's not like it rains much here...we'll fix it when we have the time.

i don't know if he has it registered on the base here...if not, that also means that we won't be able to have it filled with gas, which means we'll just have to go fill up the CO's car or the aircrew van or something, then siphon it out into the Focus.

OK, I drove an AUDI R8

Here is what I did:

- 105 mph
- 0-62 mph in 5.5 sec

I was using the paddle shifters, and I was shifting around 5.5K-6K RPM (which explains the slow time to 62 mph), since it's not my car.

That's probably the most expensive, fastest, and sportiest car I will ever get to drive (unless of course, my student brings something even better to the college and lets me drive it )
