what the fuck

http://www.gopack.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9200&ATCLID=1587485

Quote :
"RALEIGH, N.C. – Tom O’Brien will be looking for new offensive and defensive sparks Saturday night when NC State hosts No. 13 South Florida at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Russell Wilson will not play in the contest, O’Brien announced Monday at his weekly press conference, less than an hour after Wilson was named the ACC Offense Back of the Week for his performance in the Wolfpack’s 30-24 overtime victory over No. 15 East Carolina.

Junior reserve Harrison Beck, who started four games last season for the Wolfpack and came off the bench to lead the team to a 38-28 win over William & Mary in the home opener, will start in Wilson’s place, the team’s third starting quarterback in its five games this season.

Wilson, who threw three touchdown passes against the Pirates, suffered an undisclosed injury in the second half of the game but continued to play. He was evaluated on Sunday and O’Brien made the decision then to hold him out of this week’s game, which is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The coach also announced that starting sophomore linebacker Nate Irving, the team’s leading tackler, will also miss this weekend’s game with a lower leg injury. Irving suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday’s win over East Carolina. He attempted to return in the second half, but missed most of the rest of the game.

The new injuries to Wilson and Irving are the latest in a string of ailments that date to the beginning of fall football practice. Wilson missed the William & Mary game earlier this year after suffering a concussion against South Carolina in the season-opener. Tailbacks Jamelle Eugene and Toney Baker have missed most of the season with injuries, tight ends Anthony Hill and Matt Kushner are currently missing from the lineup because of injury, wide receiver Donald Bowens is out of the season with a back injury and defensive tackle Alan Michael Cash is out of the lineup with an injury.

Wilson’s play was key to the Wolfpack’s win over East Carolina. After the Pirates took a 24-17 lead with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, the native of Richmond led the Wolfpack on a seven-play, 55-yard drive to tie the game, completing four of his five passes. He opened the drive with a 26-yard pass to sophomore Jarvis Williams and followed it up with a 17-yard flare pass to Andre Brown.

He put the Wolfpack (2-2 overall, 0-1 ACC) in position to score with an 8-yard pass to tight end George Bryan, then hit him again on a press-box-reviewed pass in the back of the end zone with 1:12 remaining on the clock. Placekicker Josh Cjazkowski’s extra point tied the game at 24.

The Wolfpack won the game in overtime after its defense forced East Carolina quarterback Patrick Pinkney to fumble on the Pirates’ possession and Brown scored on a 10-yard touchdown run.

Wilson competed 21 of his 31 passes in the game for 210 yards. He also scrambled for 26 yards on 12 carries. He did not throw an interception in the contest and was sacked only once.

Wilson also missed much of the season-opener against South Carolina, after being knocked unconscious and suffering a concussion. He missed the William & Mary game while recovering from his head injury.

South Florida comes to Carter-Finley with the highest ranking in school history.

This is just the second meeting of the two schools. The Wolfpack beat USF 14-0 in the 2005 Meineke Car Care Bowl at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium."

"undisclosed injury"

what the fuck?

Beck was in for two series against ECU and they ended in a pick 6 (arguably not his fault) and a fumble on their 10. We are boned.

yeah we are seriously fucked. it must be a bad injury too because why the fuck else would he announce on a monday that wilson won't be playing on a saturday night game, especially considering how terribly beck played in limited action against ECU. we are so unbelievably cursed this year.

what a fucking crock of shit

^yes. maybe they mean this is the highest ranking they've ever come to carter-finley with in school history lol

Anything on the packpride premie boards about what wilson's injury is?

Like was said above, I expected Irving to be out, but Wilson looked fine the whole game.

i'm guessing another concussion. You're at the highest risk for one within a month of your first. Esp. since it was a nasty one.

We're doomed

^,^^maybe who knows, but i never saw him take too bad of a hit

in one sense, Wilson showed a lot of promise out there versus ECU, and Irving has obviously been great all season, so maybe we don't want to take a chance and play them banged up and get them hurt worse

i'm optimistic right now...I wish Wilson was starting over Beck, however I do think Beck will be better than he was last week...its hard for anybody to get their timing when you have them on the sidelines for 1st and 2nd down and bring them into the game with a cold arm on 3rd down

rw and beck have almost same amount of pt....look at the turnovers though between them...rw = 0! plus he can run from pressure....that's not happening with beck's fat ass

I'm not optimistic at all. I expect Beck throws 2 INTs the first half and we put in ol' Pick 6 himself who then proceeds to go ahead and give the game away with a few crucial boneheaded plays of his own.

Wilson has had good stretches and bad stretches, but the kid does not throw it to the other team, which is basically all we need from our QB to be in the games on a consistent basis.

on topic with the thread: fuckakjdal;djamtlejbnak;jb;djakfjajkgal;dvjasdh;ojadsjkk

also Wilson had one INT at Clemson.

hopefully eugene didn't suffer any undisclosed injuries in the game. we should at least have him and brown to pound the ball with, but with beck giving it away every couple of possessions it's going to get ugly quick i think.

this really blows hard.

Wow, I don't even know what to think any more. I thought with Wilson we might have a chance, but now no way. Our injury situation is just ridiculous, no other way to explain it.

Seriously, burn Glennon's redshirt. Don't let Beck touch the field.

The first time we played USF was in a a bowl game a few years ago. So yeah they've never played at C-F. So that statement is pretty freaking stupid, lol.

If something actually did happen to AW and he needs to sit out a game, well I'm okay with it b/c its not a conference game. Better he's out now than against an ACC opponent.

And I hope it has nothing to do with head trauma. If he suffered another concussion its doubtful he'll play again all season.

I understand him not playing and all, but is there a reason you announce this on Monday? Why would we not make USF prepare to see Wilson and Beck, at least for a few more days?

With this information you know they are going to have their DB's running the WR drills all week.

I thought the coaching staff was hampering Wilson by taking him out on third down.

He is a REDSHIRT FRESHMAN. He has to learn how to recover from mistakes. This only comes with experience. By bringing Beck in, it was only adding to the confusion that was our offense in the first half.

It's clearly a ploy. Wilson and Irving will both be in top shape on Saturday and will have a combined point total of 36. You heard it here first, folks.

Ha ha that is true. Our only hope is that Beck gets into some type of rhythm in this game and can avoid the costly picks.

Also I blame Beck for the pick 6 in the EZU game because he threw that pass way behind the receiver and the receiver (Bryan maybe?), was trying to grab it and unfortunately tipped that shit into the air. Plus if Beck had any speed at all, he could have at least tackled the dude before he got into the end zone. Slow mother fucker.

i honestly think our only hope is the running game and tj graham. hopefully he can get open deep a few times and beck won't overthrow him by 10 yards. beck will definitely have some costly turnovers, but maybe we have a shot.

but i doubt it. it sucks that this news comes on the heels of such a solid game by wilson. i really thought we were taking a big step in the right direction as a program, and then this shit happens.

This 2nd post irritated me more than the article itself. Hope the weather is fairer wherever you are.

Back on topic, I agree with whoever said this injuries will be more than a week. That is probably the real scenario here. Or, maybe TOB is just thinking 'hey it would be nice to beat USF but they aren't in the conference. since we have all these injuries already lets be overly cautious going into conference play on the road'

havent seen anything on PPPremie that reports exactly what happened

but in Gene Gallins (sp?) post game video you can clearly see RW high-5ing teammates and running

around having a great time flashing the wolfpack sign and other stuff that would make him appear

injury free unless this is some TA ping pong shit

^^^ lets not forget that we need a freshman to step up in Irving's absence. ECU sure did move the ball down field a lot easier while he was out of the game. As great as our D is (and they are great), they are going to have to step up even more with our QB out. South Florida can move the ball and cause confusion... its going to be a good game. Go Pack!!!

^^^^yeah irving is definitely our best player on either side of the ball i think. i just think it's a little easier for one of the other 10 guys out there to step up and help pick up some of the slack so it doesn't all fall on maddox. with beck in there it's kind of hard for the other 10 guys on offense to keep him from throwing picks unless it's the receivers making ridiculous plays to go up and get the ball.
