Actual miles are a mystery, but I had a mechanic take a look at it a while back, and he said he wouldn't touch a thing, engine-wise, because it runs perfectly as is.

As far as how much I want, I'll just take offers. If you are really interested, please respond to the craigslist ad.

I think your buddy Ross came by to check it out, but came at night. Tell him if he wants it, come by some time in the day to test ride it. He lives on Hope, right?

Seriously, I mean damn . . . . . $1000-1500 I could possibly understand, but $2500? You've done a lot of work on it, but that bike is still older than I am. What flavor of crack are you smoking?

Comparable bikes on eBay go for $1200-3000. Price is negotiable, as it says. If you are seriously interested, come check it out and make me an offer at what you consider a reasonable price, but save the negotiations for after you've ridden the bike.

i guess you're convinced that they'll fall in love with the bike and give you well more than it's worth?

Unless you are the original owner of one of these bikes, there is no way to know the actual mileage. These bikes have the odometers that you can just turn back with a drill. There is a reason why these are exempt from odometer reading when applying for a title. The mileage on the original odometer is 28,000 but I can't commit to the accuracy of that.

As far as negotiations go, I don't necessarily expect the bike to sell for $2500, but I am certain that unless you are interested enough to come look at the bike, there is no point in haggling.

that's a silly assumption you're making and it's obvious you don't know much about business, especially in this day and age of teh intarweb (which isn't meant as an insult, just as a statement of fact)

1.) regardless of what you THINK it's worth, if the market doesn't agree with you, then it's not ACTUALLY worth it...worth is completely subjective

2.) as a component of the above, why would anyone waste their time checking out the bike if you make it clear that you want an unreasonable amount of money for it, and that you don't intend to budge into the realm of reality? if you make it clear that you want $2500 and my budget is $1500, then regardless of how "interested" i am in the bike, why would i waste my time when the overwhelming odds are that you're not going to knock 40% off your asking price just because i happened to show up and give it a once-over?

3.) more specifically, the whole point of asking (at the very beginning) what you were looking for helps a person gauge real interest...i'm "interested" in a 10 million dollar home on 1000 acres of prime farmland, but since i know i can't afford it, i'm certainly not going to waste time looking for it...the fact that i can't afford it doesn't change how much i'd like to have it

does that make sense? i'm not trying to be an ass (i'm good at it, though), but you are seriously mistaken (by A LOT) about how much this thing is worth to anyone but you...then you pretend like your asking price is irrelevant until certain conditions are met (or are you implying that if i come take a look at it, the simple act of me showing up would give you cause to adjust your price to something realistic?)

well, I think I have made it abundantly clear that the price is flexible, although it's not like I am going to go as low as $600. I have had an offer for $1800 cash that I think is reasonable.

The reason don't want to negotiate on wolfweb is because I assume those on wolfweb go to NC State, so if they are interested, all they have to do is walk across Hillsborough to talk to me in person. Also, I don't need all the shit-talkers' and low-ballers' opinion.

As I said before, if seriously interested in the the bike, respond to the craigslist ad, and if you go to State, stop by my house and you can see/ride the bike and we can talk in person.

Well, it's no '78 CB750 F2. Not even a '76 F1. The K-series 750s, while one of my all-time favorite bikes, are kinda lackluster unless you're really into them. None of them even have a rear disc brake like the Fs do. And they certainly are no powerhouses.

They will run forever if properly taken care of, and stuff like the steering fork head bearings have been replaced and the very simple carbs have been maintained. Oh, and rear bearings, shocks, and chain. And the cam chain is kept tensioned.

The bruthas LOVE these bikes, especially if they're lowered (pretty damn easy to do too).

But that one don't look too special.
