watching this on National Geographic.A lady was sky diving her first non-tandem and her chute sends her into a spin and then releases on one side. She completely releases the main chute and opens the emergency one. That one is all knotted up. She starts spinning again and plummeting to the ground with contact in about a minute after. She basically was falling and spinning from 11,000ft in the air. She crashed almost parallel to some pavement with her right side taking most of the impact. She survived it and the most amazing thing is she was two weeks pregnant. She had that baby and he was totally healthy.

2 weeks pregnant, did she even know??
9/24/2008 3:29:09 PM
yeah i remember seeing this on the news
9/24/2008 3:29:16 PM
she had no clue she was pregnant.I cried.
9/24/2008 3:30:23 PM
What injuries did she get?
9/24/2008 3:31:02 PM
she broke her femur, her pelvis bone, and smashed her face on the concrete. She has 15 metal plates in her face and other places she broke. She has this cool meshy metal stuff for her eye sockets bc those were completely shattered. All her organs were amazingly in tact and she did not break a single bone in her back or left side of her body.[Edited on September 24, 2008 at 3:36 PM. Reason : her]

adamantium?
9/24/2008 3:36:16 PM
hahahahahah!!! Me thoughts exactly.
9/24/2008 3:36:47 PM
Awesome, sounds like because the biggest surface area on her body hit the ground she managed to survive, though I bet it hurt like a motherfucking bitch.
9/24/2008 3:38:37 PM
so that means she's blind now right?
9/24/2008 3:41:57 PM
That would have sucked if she'd landed on a rusty nail or something. Then she would need all of that surgery and tetanus shots.
9/24/2008 3:49:27 PM
hahah punchmonk rocks

my mom saw the opening screen to my Double Dragon game when I first got it and complained to k-mart about them selling games that glorified violence against women
9/24/2008 4:40:16 PM
Hahaha, that's one of the best game beginnings ever. No talking, some guy just walks up to a girl and punches her in the stomach.

a physics professor said in class one time that if you're skydiving and the chute doesn't open, you have a surprising rate of survival if you lay out flat.i figured this was kindof bullshit, but hey.
9/24/2008 9:53:25 PM
I mean, 1% would be surprising, so it may be true honestly.
9/24/2008 9:55:39 PM
hmm...not exactly the most graceful entry by the stork
9/24/2008 10:03:58 PM
^^ right.

You will not survive a terminal velocity impact in any orientation on any medium. The only time this has happened has been like 1 time in 1000s over snow. On this accident though she panicked and fucked her self, so it was totally her fault. Sucks that the only way to know how you will handle a malfunctioned main is to have one. Thank God I've had 4 now [Edited on September 29, 2008 at 11:48 PM. Reason : a]
