so the long of the short of it is that we work outside with work laptops

mine broke

they asked me to use my personal one for one week, i said fine even though its a brand new computer

it fell in some mud

they agreed to whatever needed to get done to help

where can i take this thing so that mud isn't permanently caked into the innards?

it's really not that hard to take it apart and do all the cleaning yourself. However, if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, then definitely don't do it.

and since it fell in mud, I'm hoping you're not using it, have it plugged in, have the battery in it....

what kind is it?

it will have to be taken apart and the individual components cleaned separately. Hopefully just the casing, housing, keyboard (plastic parts) got muddy, and nothing seeped down into the motherboard or inside the ports.

Depending on what brand/model it is, you can probably find a disassembly guide.
If not, you can try to disassemble it yourself by just pulling out screws, but you have to be very careful doing that, because 1) you have to clearly mark/label/photograph every step of the way and keep an eye on all the screws and components you take out, 2) sometimes there is a certain order you have to remove screws and parts, 3) there are a lot of screws that don't need to be removed, and you may cause more harm than good by going "too far"

its an asus

the only part that got muddy is the entire bottom, the screen/keyboard are fine although the glossy top on the back of the screen has a scratch from a branch now



well if someone wants to volunteer next week to help me out that would be nice
