^^ Shannon Wright had two advantages over Des Ark in my eyes.

1) Brian Teasley played drums with her. I once saw him play so hard he ripped open the armpits of two t-shirts in one set.

2) She played with a fully-functional Wurlitzer Visualizer on the stage.

ABC Family sucks. The Lying Game has also not been renewed after their first season on ABC Family. You probably didn't watch TLG but it was really good. The fact that Secret Life of the American Teenager got like 8 seasons on ABC Family and was absolute garbage pisses me off.

Guess I'll have to get my Amy Sherman-Palladino fix in Gilmore Girls reruns. Maybe since Bunheads didn't get renewed, she'll do a GG movie/reunion?

My votes go to Hemingway, Winston Churchill, Karen Blixen, and an obscureish historical novelist named Mary Renault.

Nabokov is outrageously good, obviously, but I'm not enough of a fan of his whole body of work for him to get a nod from me. Lolita was marvelous, but I could never get into Pale Fire or his autobiography.

StillFuchsia: I'm not surprised to hear you say Joyce. He (and from what I understand, Pynchon) were both all about cramming as much poetry into every sentence as they possibly could. As dishes, they are a bit heavy for me. But "StillFuchsia <3's Joyce" totally makes sense.

Nabokov with Halpern and my Literature of Hell class are the only two things about college that I get intensely nostalgic about.

The second you assholes mentioned what sounded like a Nabokov class I knew it must be Halpern. Was and still am pretty tight with him, took four classes with him. Modernism, Postmodernism, Dante, and a Virginia Woolf class.
