Funny stories, cool schwag, etc.
Wondered why Sony Ericsson was a no show yesterday? Monday they laid off 450 out of 750 RTP jobs, basically the entire R&D staff.
and then today I got back from the fair and realized that my fly was unzipped the whole time. 10/1/2008 11:31:15 AM |

I hate it when people ask a question and then post the response to their own question. 10/1/2008 12:19:54 PM |

They should really try to sort out more parking solutions for the event. Even getting there early doesn't help much. 10/1/2008 12:43:25 PM |

do they not still do shuttles from various off campus parking areas? 10/1/2008 12:45:24 PM |

they do
but if you're not a student anymore, parking on campus isn't really an option
unless you do park & ride, I guess 10/1/2008 12:47:35 PM |

which is why you could take a shuttle from "various off campus parking areas"

I thought you said "on"
the bus going to the McKimmon center was only stopping at Talley and EBII
so that'd mean two buses to get there, unless you parked somewhere on the Varsity line

I did work at Cisco. What do you want to know? Just got off of Coop there.
While a lot do go the website route, often a lot will do onsite interviews. Cisco is big on this I know. Several others I know will as well.

Man I had fun...
I Bee Lined to the companies I wanted to talk to and got interviews as soon as the doors opened, I have 6 interviews lined up from this career fair directly, 3 of which I'm actually really interested in (the other 3 are backup jobs I wouldn't mind doing).
THEN I got a TON of candy and talked with a bunch of nice people while getting free stuff... occasionally they would demand a resume so in anticipation of this I took the resume's that got printed while I was hammering out the formatting and I would give those to them... some of which had words cut off...
I had a lot of fun talking to all of the civil engineering firms b/c they had the best candy usually...
I also learned a lot about other area's of the country that I might look into living (Austin tx, and Washington state) from striking up conversations with these recruiters...
Most useful give away I think was the Army Corp of Engineer's Backpack desk-2-go: with tape, a stapler WITH extra staples and highlighter that came in a hard plastic case so it doesn't get crushed in your backpack AWESOME.
Caterpillar had mini Cat toys that were really cool too... Not as many of the awesome 0.5mm pencils this time around though... 10/1/2008 6:58:00 PM |
