10/1/2008 8:57:42 PM
Let's make up a large amount of money based on no actual math or economics, give it to Paulson, and give him unlimited and unchecked power to do with it whatever the fuck he thinks is best to save the economy even though he's a part of the reason we're in this mess to begin with.SOUNDS GREAT, WHERE DO I SIGN UP?
10/1/2008 8:58:06 PM

10/1/2008 9:16:30 PM
FUCK THIS SHITIF I FAIL TO PAY MY MORTGAGE THEN I FAIL..IF BANKS GIVE ME A MORTGAGE THAT THEY KNOW I CAN'T PAY LONG TERM..THEN FUCK THEM TOO. THEY SHOULD FAIL AS WELL--THAT'S HOW AMERICA WORKS[Edited on October 1, 2008 at 9:19 PM. Reason : asdf]
10/1/2008 9:19:24 PM
the people on cnbc are getting all aggro with each other
10/1/2008 9:24:29 PM
Look - you can argue that it shouldnt have come to this point. I'll agree with that. You can argue that it's just a bandaid. I'll agree with that. What you cannot argue with is that in the face of major bank failures, you cannot afford to not try and apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. In the stock crash of 1929, it took a full 3 years for the impact to be felt by the banks, and it took a war to create industry and correct the damage. This time, the banks are the first ones shitting the bed, and they're going to take the value of the dollar and everything it is invested in with it when the stock markets crash. If you can't understand that, then you're the moron, not me. There is not one single thing that has ever passed in the history of time that made every single stakeholder happy. It is extremely dangerous for anybody to think that "if you don't do the right thing you deserve to fail" when so much is riding on this. What's even funnier is the ones who advocate that there be no bailout at all would be the ones who lack the intellect to see that it would affect them the most. Just let it fail? Are you REALLY that fucking stupid?
10/1/2008 9:32:58 PM

On this timetable there are ONLY those two options.Congress is due for its fall recess. The market won't wait - as evidenced by Mondays' 778 point drop and the resulting 400+ point rally based purely on the hope of a solution.Sure you could take your time and try to hammer out a plan that worked better, but chances are there wouldn't be anything left to save once you got done with it. There is no way in fuck a better plan could be made in such a short period of time with all the partisan finger pointing and special interest shit going on. It would take 6-8 months to even talk about it, let alone write it.
10/1/2008 9:41:50 PM
As I recall, both the GOP and the Dems have proposed different plans, both of which involve less spending, less risk, and less waste.Fuck if I know why they're still trying to vote on the bailout, though. The last week-and-a-half could have been spent working on solutions instead of buying into fearmongering.
10/1/2008 9:46:29 PM
10/1/2008 9:48:18 PM
If it's that fucking important perhaps they should suspend their fall recess and come up with a good solution
10/1/2008 9:49:39 PM
politicians do not give up vacay time"this is not a bail out. it is an emergency economic stabilization bill""there is going to be a return on this, we're not sure what it is yet"-Sen Casey R PA[Edited on October 1, 2008 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .][Edited on October 1, 2008 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .]

It kind of bothers me that the guy who campaigns on his opposition to earmarks voted for a bill coated in them
10/1/2008 10:00:28 PM
It should bother you. The dude is the biggest flip-flopper I've ever seen in my life. Too bad the republican party was too secular and their judgement clouded by idiotic religion to vote for the best candidate they had in Romney.
10/1/2008 10:07:36 PM
uh, if they didn't vote for bills w/ earmarks, they'd never get to vote for anything
10/1/2008 10:09:19 PM
FUCK THIS SHITJesus fucking Christ..the whole point of a free economy is that businesses fail or prosper because of their actions. these banks have failed..and they should do so without any interference from the government. someone will buy them out, become stronger, and ultimately prosper from the the misguidance of a shitty, greedy CEO... just like every consumer that takes on too much debtI mean, if I go max out every credit I can get, ultimately I'm fucked... these banks aren't much different.
10/1/2008 10:10:19 PM
who said a free economy was the best way?
